Johnson Wen, the 26-year-old Australian who brazenly jumped over a barricade and rushed the Pop star on the red carpet, has been sentenced to nine days in prison after being found guilty of being a public nuisance. According to BBC News,
Wen pleaded guilty to the charge during his court appearance today, November 18).
The incident, which went viral last Thursday, saw the 32-year-old visibly shaken as Wen grabbed her before co-star Cynthia Erivo physically intervened. Court proceedings revealed this wasn’t Wen’s only attempt that evening. He actually tried to breach the red carpet twice, with the second intrusion occurring after security had already escorted him out.
During sentencing, Wen promised the judge he would “not do it again.”
However, his social media presence tells a different story.
The serial event crasher, who goes by “Pyjama Man” online, has built a reputation for sneaking close to celebrities. His Instagram showcases similar stunts at concerts by Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and the Chainsmokers.
The day after the premiere, he even posted that he was “free after being arrested.” He also shared the video of the incident.
While the British star hasn’t publicly addressed the incident, Erivo referenced it during a Los Angeles screening over the weekend.
“We have come through some sh*t. I mean, f*ck, even this last week, let’s be honest.”
