Drama-plagued Songz stands accused of punching a nightclub worker during a late-night clash that prosecutors say stemmed from him being told the venue was closing.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of December 4 and has since landed the self-deemed “Trigga” in Manhattan criminal court.
According to prosecutors, the 41-year-old, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, was at Times Square hotspot Dramma Night Club when a staff member informed him it was closing time around 4:25 a.m. Authorities allege the singer became “needlessly irate” before striking the employee in the face.
Neverson was arraigned on an assault charge and also faces a second-degree mischief charge tied to a separate incident later that morning at Manhattan restaurant and hookah lounge Mira, where he is accused of causing roughly $1,500 in property damage.
His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, took umbrage and said:
“Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.”
Songz was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on February 18.
