Victoria Monét is already mapping out her next chapter, and it sounds like a love letter to classic R&B.
The singer-songwriter, who dominated much of last year with ‘Jaguar II,’ recently opened up about her forthcoming album during a candid chat with Angel Reese on the athlete’s podcast.
While her previous project leaned into vintage textures, Monét revealed that her new material is grounded in a very specific R&B era.
Full story below…
During the conversation, Monét explained that although ‘Jaguar II ‘was deeply rooted in 70s-inspired sonics and aesthetics, the album she is currently crafting taps into a different generation of R&B altogether.
She revealed:
“This album that I’m working on right now is so, so R&B. Jaguar II was R&B, but it was set in the era of the 70s. This feels more like 90s R&B. I can’t wait. I’m very excited. And when I see you, I’ll play you things. I want you to tell me what you think.”
The tease follows a breakthrough run for the California native, with Jaguar II birthing her career-breakthrough hit ‘On My Mama’ alongside fan favorite ‘Alright.’ With a 90s R&B-inspired direction now in focus, anticipation for her next chapter is already building fast.
