Barely two years after watching the Billboard 200 make room inside its top 20 for his 2024 album ‘Room Under the Stairs,’ (#15 peak), ZAYN repeated the feat this week with its successor: his fifth studio album ‘KONNAKOL.’
ZAYN’s ‘KONNAKOL’
First-Week Sales (SPS): 29,800 units
Billboard 200 Debut: #18
Boasting production and songwriting contributions from the likes of serial hitmakers like Jesse Shatkin, The Monsterz & Strangerz, and more, the April 17-released 15-track set – which sees its title nod to the 33-year-old’s South Asian heritage – debuted at #18 on the updated Billboard 200 thanks to total sales slightly north of 29,000.
The sales sum gave ZAYN just enough needed to be the week’s top-selling and highest-debuting studio album.
Among all projects impacting the Billboard 200 this week, however, only TOMORROW X TOGETHER‘s ‘7th Year: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns’ EP debuted higher (#3) and sold more.
Led to Billboard battle by singles ‘Die for Me‘ and ‘Sideways,’ ‘KONNAKOL’ was delivered to digital shelves courtesy of Mercury Records and arrived just a month before its performer takes to the road for the forthcoming globe-trotting ‘KONNAKOL Tour.’
