Back in 2010, those were the very words Mariah Carey cooed on her then-single ‘Up Out My Face’ – which featured a then-rising Nicki Minaj. Fast forward 3 years and we’re sure the premium diva is directing those lyrics to the rapper…for quite different reasons (see: beef). Nevertheless, the American Idol judges’ release is this week’s From The Vault pick.
Originally included on MC’s 2009 opus ‘Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel’ sans Minaj, the version which featured the femcee was rolled out as as the first single (alongside ‘Angel’s Cry’ feat. Ne-Yo) from her scrapped remix album ‘Angels Advocate’. Musically, the release was helmed by Mimi, Tricky Stewart and The Dream – the team behind the totality of the song’s parent LP.
Criminally underrated, the single didn’t exactly set the charts alight – charting at #39 on the US Hip-Hop/R&B and only at a mere #100 on the Hot 100. Still, we feel it was wholly deserving of the “single treatment” as it was a true highlight on an album that, despite its cohesive-quality, wasn’t front-loaded with “hits”. Unusual for a “Mariah Carey” album.
Still, its accompanying video served up many an entertaining moment, packing with it enough to ensure ‘Up Out My Face’ serves as a memorable Mariah moment, regardless of chart placings (or lack-thereof). Mr Carey aka Nick Cannon took charge of directorial duties, delivering a vivid, colorful and, humorous clip. Channeling the ‘Roman’s Revenge’ artist’s recurring “Black Barbie” theme, the girls are painted as bootylicious, larger-than-life dolls whose wardrobes are as all sorts of scanty.
This chemistry the Pop stars shared on its video make their current feud all the more ironic.
In any case, Mimi and Nicki will have no other choice but to stay in each other’s faces for the next few months, as they search for the next music ‘Idol. And while we’re all for peace, love, and all that good stuff, we’ll be enjoying all the .gif moments they keep serving up each week on FOX.

Four years ago, a surprise performance by Beyonce at President Barack Obama’s Neighborhood Ball became arguably the most talked-about musical moment of the inauguration festivities.
At the Jan. 20, 2009 event — broadcast on ABC and watched by 12.6 million U.S. TV viewers according to Nielsen — she serenaded the newly-elected president and first lady Michelle Obama with a cover of Etta James’ “At Last.”
Video clips of the performance went viral on YouTube, other TV networks played it repeatedly, and sales of the song immediately surged. Beyonce’s already-released cover version earned a 1,318% sales gain according to Nielsen SoundScan in the tracking week ending Jan. 25. The tune sold 31,000 downloads that week — up from just 2,000 the week previous. (Her version of “At Last” had been released late in 2008 on the “Cadillac Records” soundtrack. She co-starred in the film as James.)
Beyonce is back again for Obama’s second inauguration, though this time she’ll be performing at the Ceremonial Swearing-In Ceremony on Jan. 21. Also on hand for the ceremony: Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor.
Obama’s first inauguration was a major TV event. The Jan. 20, 2009 ceremony was watched by 37.8 million U.S. TV viewers — the second-most-watched presidential inauguration after President Reagan’s first in 1981 (41.8 million). Leading up to that were an array of concerts and balls, broadcast on HBO and Disney Channel, all of which earned many millions of viewers and boasted A-list talent.

Anyone who thinks this “beef” is real is dumb as hell. They signed MILLION dollar contracts, it is probably CONTRACTED they sizzle a little drama to get the show ratings.
Because without drama, the show would have NO ratings, therefore they wouldn’t make any money. EVERY SINGLE SHOW has drama, 99% of the time it is set-up.

I actually like this song from Memoirs (one of the standouts alongside “ribbon”, “betcha didn’t know”, “candybling”, etc). I like their chemistry here and on Idol.
I cannot believe that their chemistry is the only interesting thing on Idol (other than their comments to contestants). I still believe that they had a little spat but nothing as big as what the media and they themselves are making it out to be). I absolutely enjoyed their interactions on Idol I mean Mariah’s “diva” attitude to her comments and her “Mean Girls” trivia and Nicki constantly rolling her eyes at Mariah 😆

Sam cut the b******* for hits its beyond lame its make you look desperate. As for the video it was a cool and I like their chemistry. The barbie theme worked well here as both women believe they’re barbie dolls.
Damn, not that she didn´t have it before 2009 but Nicki had way more surgery since 2009 didn´t she???
Anyway, even if I´ve never cared about AI and the likes, I´m sure this is the ebst panel ever, or at least since teh original one. MC and Nicki shade each other in a firendly kind of way and it´s fun. What happened is that Nicki is not that stable and at times couldn´t handle the shade, so she got a little bit angry. We´ve already seen it and we´ll see it more when that episode comes. If you can´t handle the heat don´t play with fire girl!!! lol
But all the judges are good together. Love how every single contestant who enters the room praises Mariah before or after singing 🙂
