Pitbull Single Sales Surpass 40 Million Mark

Published: Wednesday 20th Nov 2013 by David

While album sales have and will always hold more weight than single sales, the last decade has birthed acts who have seen their singles make quite a pretty profit for their supporting labels- by way of deals that see these companies take a sizeable piece of those artists commercial pies.

So, one doesn’t have to wonder why Peter Edge‘s ‘RCA Records’ now hold Pitbull in high regard, despite his inability to replicate his Hot 100 success story on the Billboard 200.

For, thanks to his Dance dominated discography, the Pop emcee has now seen sales of his single fist pump past the 40 million mark!

Details below…

In a press release penned to promote the star’s forthcoming ‘Global Warming: Meltdown’ release, RCA revealed:

“Miami-native Pitbull aka Mr. Worldwide and Mr. 305 is a globally successful musician, performer, business entrepreneur, fashion icon and actor whose career sales exceed 5 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide. Pitbull has #1 hits in more than 15 countries and his videos have been viewed more than 3 billion times; his music video for the single “Give Me Everything” has alone received over 300 million views on Youtube.”

While some may put his success down to the supposed ‘generic’ nature of his cuts, the fact remains that releasing Dance or ‘chart driven’ material alone doesn’t see one act sell 40 million singles worldwide.

After all, if all it took were David Guetta esque songs to ensure chart glory, many a one hit wonder would find themselves consistently pulling in numbers like these too, riding an EDM wave all the way to the bank.

Alas, they’re not.

For, what Pitbull‘s music lacks in depth, it makes up for in an originality- seasoning his otherwise ‘generic’ jams with a Latin ‘flava’ that’s seen him carve out lucrative lanes that have led him straight to Pop’s promised land!

I called him a singles artist and then you talk about singles , wouldn’t your “diss” have been more interesting if you would’ve said he outsells britney with singles which he DOESN’T or with albums which he needs about 90 million more album sales to do?

All these huge singles sales, Rihanna 120 millions singles sold, now Pitbull 40 million in an era where most of us download the songs illegally, how are those sales even posible?, i know record labels wants to create a legacy for the new artist but lying to the public is not the way, also is kind of embarrassing to say, she/he has sold 20 million albums and 200 million singles, i mean, albums are always everything about a musician, no matter how you put it, singles sales certainly push their record sales to another level but when you think about album vs singles, it’s like nahh, there are still artist who sell albums, so the “we are in the digital era” excuse it’s not valid, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Madonna sold millions of records but once again, they prove my point, they dominated both albums and singles, in an era where it was more difficult to buy singles, singles that were also more expensive than those released digitally. In ten years Rihanna will probably be the best selling artist in the world but it will be something like this.

    Rihanna surpasses Madonna/The Beatles/Michael Jackson.

    Rihanna – 50 million albums / 1 billion singles.

    Madonna – 200 + million albums / 150 million singles.

    No shade tho…

A lot of people dislike Rihanna, but they’ll purchase her single if they like it…the same goes for any artist. Most artists of todays single sales outnumber their album sales. It’s just going to be that way from now on unfortunately.
