Is Lady GaGa threatened by the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce or Katy Perry?

Well, when pushed to address the negative press belabouring new album ‘ARTPOP’, the ‘So Happy I Could Die’ belter sought out to remind attendees of her ‘SXSW‘ Keynote speech of the 27 million albums that make her one of the highest selling artists of all time.
Revealing that she believes she is held to an ‘insane standard’, GaGa’s time at the event also saw her question the origins behind her supposed rivalry with the aforementioned Perry, and slams the music industry’s forgetful nature.
Her words below…
On new album ‘ARTPOP‘:
“I’m sorry I didn’t sell a million records the first week. I have before. I’ve sold 27 million albums. I’m very proud of what we did. I’ve sold as much as everybody else sells. I’m held to such an insane standard; it’s almost like everybody forgets where the music business is now.”
On Katy Perry:
“I don’t know what the f*ck-all I have to do with Katy Perry. Our music is so completely different. I couldn’t be more different, really. I really don’t fit in pop music in a way, but I came through it and I’d like to think I changed it in some way so you can feel like you don’t have to fit into a mold.”
On holding onto success:
“I never liked having my skirt measured for me at school or told how to do things or the rules to play by. And as you become more successful they start to push the rule book closer and closer to you. ‘Now you’re here, so how are you going to maintain it?’ “The truest way for us to maintain the music industry is to put all of the power back into the hands of the artists. If we are not telling our artists to be creative, what are we? What are we doing? Why is it a prison, and why are we allowing it to be a prison?”
Shes so pretentious. Its like shes trying to convince herself shes not now classed as a novelty act. Sad times Gaga.
How can you say you don’t fit in pop music when you make the same generic mess as everyone else. Shes always trying to convince herself shes some god given authentic art and shes just about as safe and her gimmicks are predictable and boring!
I can see where she’s coming from, however I do believe she and her team are slightly embarrassed about the low sales of ARTPOP. Yeah she may have sold over 25 million albums in 5 yrs but that amount doesn’t matter if she can’t keep selling that high, that’s P!nk is the only true global pop start other than Adele. P!nk took 4 yrs off and came back with a album that scored 3 consecutive Top 10s on the Hot 100 including the 2nd biggest song of 2013 with Just Give Me a Reason and sold 6 million copies WW and headlined a world tour that grossed $175 million WW… Sorry to say, but Gaga will never have that type of career longevity if she doesn’t remain true and consistent with herself. Yeah P!nk’s music is generic at times, however it’s HER unique style and sound and that’s why P!nk has remained relevant for 15 yrs without truly falling off. Gaga is only in her 6th yr in the industry and is already falling off… Hopefully she continues to push ARTPOP or just move onto the next era

Shes a walking talking contradiction. Shes all about the art, yet her first testent to her success was about the album sales. I can’t imagine ANY other pop girl saying something like that in an interview. Not Katy, not Beyonce and not Rihanna. Gaga needs to learn shes becoming less as less likeable if she wants those 27 million albums to mean something 20 years from now and not just be another fad in pop.
Madonna is clearly superior to Gaga but Gaga clearly has more raw talent than Madonna.
Well what Gaga has achieved is quite impressive and I won’t take away her success. But for an artist who seemed to have “fame” down to an art, Gaga hasn’t found a way to overcome the death that is irrelevancy.
This will be Gaga’s 6th year in the Music Induty and she’s struggling to get people interested in her again.
Its sad because ARTPOP Is actually a decent album, Unfortunately it comes after Born This Way which was the album Gaga jumped the shark on.
At this point Katy is slaying Gaga, and thats sad but katy has 2 #1 songs and a platinum album. Gaga has neither achievements for her latest effort.
