Usher may have bumped the release of his new album to an undisclosed date, but that doesn’t mean the crooner isn’t still hard at work on the set.
Indeed, in a new interview with The Guardian in the UK, it’s revealed that he’s lined up an all-star cast to help craft the LP, which has a working title of ‘UR’.
Details below…
Per the feature, Mr Raymond has teamed up with Pop maestro Max Martin, Ed Sheeran, Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis, Skrillex, and Disclosure for the project, which serves as the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Lookin 4 Myself’.
Currently on tour, it’s expected that the LP will land in stores next year.

As much as very few look forward to his music I think he should take Ri-Whine-a route & put out hit singles not into an Usher Album since “Usher Bedtime & 8701” Albums…
Hell the R&B audience wasn’t supporting, so might as well to urban pop. Just leave EDM alone.
Because he pushed them away in the first place. Ain’t nobody got time for the blatant flip-flopping. But you’re right, he might as well stay over on the other side, hopefully pop radio still cares.
They werent supporting b/c he was putting out songs like Good Kisser and Stripper crap. Usher isn’t singing about love anymore and he lost his fans.
Climax was a clever break up song and it did well on the US & UK charts.
The he released SCREAM. SMH
USHER has lost his swag and the HUNGER is gone. He’s not even s*** anymore; his peak happen with confessions and OMG. HOWEVER I still love usher and mariah because THEY ARE TALENTED
His thirsty ass, always looking for hit. How about focusing on making a solid body of work?
That’s gonna be a hot album
He needs better SONGWRITERS & LYRICS but he doesn’t understand his brand anymore.
He is trying to be Trey Songz while his core older fans want love songs and not explicit songs.
Usher use to represent class.
S** songs are fine for Trey but Usher used to sing LOVE songs. Classic love songs.
That NEW FLAME love song with Chris was better than all of his new stuff put together.
He needs better SONGWRITERS.
I agree with your point. I’m not here for that Good Kissing and Stripper mess.
It’s a lose-lose situation with Usher. He can make mature R&B music (Here I Stand), and people will pay him absolute dust. As soon as he jumps onto the pop bandwagon, the same people who didn’t support Here I Am starts complaining that he’s a “sellout,” when they aren’t buying music in the first place LOL! I say do you usher! I’m not really into him these days because he’s just not intersting anymore but I wish him the best!
You couldn’t have said it any better. People (his “core” fans) complained about him making here I stand which was a full out r&b album so he goes for RvR and then they complain he’s sold out. Of the 18 songs on Looking 4 myself, 14 of those were r&b but because of the 4 songs that were considered pop, people labeled that album solely as pop. Fans cry about him puttin out a “full body of work” instead of looking for hit singles, but don’t take the time to listen to the mans album when he puts it out. He’s earned at least that much respect in the game for people to at least listen to the entire album before coming up with an opinion about something they haven’t even listened to. Dumb ass people these days cry about wanting r&b but when artist deliver r&b they not supporting, I.e. “She came to give it to you” and “believe me” which was produced by mike will.
Um. HIS went platinum with only one hit song. Who do you think it was supporting that album? Usher’s fans can smell when he’s being genuine and when he’s being fake and a try-hard wannabe. We absolutely will not support him when he’s in the latter mode. People kill me acting like “R&B fans” don’t buy this or support that when it was “R&B fans” who made the careers of stars like Usher. Pop fans don’t give 2 sh*ts about anything but a generic flaky trend-following single and they’ll take it from anybody willing. They won’t buy his album or his concert tickets because he’s not some flavor of the month 20 something. When WE don’t buy his CD or tickets it’s because we’re literally not feeling what he’s doing. Blind support ain’t gonna do nothing but keep him on the wrong track.
Whatever! HIS was a FLOP compared to his past efforts. He went from a diamond album to a 1x platinum album. I’m not delusional and i wasn’t expecting him to sell 10M copies again, but the sales were not good. Like the person above you said … one or two pop singles <<< 14 R&B tracks on his albums. I'm not a fan but I call a spade a spade. Urban fans don't buy music unless it's Beyoncé.
Thank you!!! Where was everyone when HIS came out??? In fact most people HATED that album at the time of its release but now wanna act brand new and say, “Damn, HIS was his last good album.” Cut the BS.
Usher taker-uppers are forever talking about how L4M was misjudged and how it was “mostly R&B with only a few pop songs and blah-blah-blah.” But the fact of the matter is that those “few pop songs” were treated with more importance than any of the R&B tracks on that album. “Scream” was the song that they tried to promote the album with and got the bigger promotional push, while they only gave half-hearted lipservice to songs like “Lemme See.” So Usher still sold out. His idol MJ never treated poppier “Beat It” like it was more important than the R&B “Bille Jean.” These past 5-6 years have unmasked a very unflattering revelation about how Usher is basically a trend following panderer and how he basically doesn’t have his own sound or style, getting everything he’s about from whichever producer he’s working with at that moment.
For real, L4M released 4 singles and 3 of the 4 were r$b, climax, twisted (which was the first song of the pharrell movemen, before blurred lines, which nobody paid any mind), and Dive (which was produced and written by the same rico love who produced There goes my baby, yet somehow that song was brushed off and disgarded as not successful when in all reality it is a better song than “there goes”). Yet his “core” audience wasn’t buying because the success that scream had. It’s like urban folk get mad that pop audiences support singles and say “well because they made scream so successful I’m not gonna listen to his other songs.” It’s crazy to me. Even now, as I said earlier, good kisser, she came, believe me, all released this year and all are r&b funk but his “core” audience won’t even try and push his music back to the top. They rather complain about things of the past than enjoy good music.
Jimmy Jam? Other than that, I’ve been saying all along that Usher ranks up there with Mariah Carey in his ability to adapt and fashion a hit in line with what’s going on in the music industry at any given time. I think he’s going to figure this thing out and get back on top again. Usher’s been in the industry a long time, but he still likely has one more hit album in him.
Lmfao @ adapt. You mean jump on trends? His ability to adapt is actually quite horrible, which is why he has been on steady decline post Confessions. RvR barely went plat. Looking4Myself aint even Gold yet. Here I stand was a serious plunge for someone who just came off a diamond album.
He literally has no direction as an artist, other than scoring a hit song. Which is quite embarrassing considering the amount of time he’s been in the game. He should be a seasoned pro by now, but his attempts are just so clearly desperate.
HOLLERING at Skrillex. And Disclosure. He’s such a trendhopper.
I love Usher but I feel he compromised his brand by following trends instead of setting them. He was at the top of his game during the confessions era, he lost the plot when he tried to emulate what the younger guys were doing. He needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out who his audience is, what sound and content are they into. He is from the era where artists worked with a single producer to create a masterpiece. We don’t want Usher the young player now, we want Usher the single dad whose experienced life’s ups and downs and came out on the other side.
lemme suhk your dikk, Usher
But usher has always worked with popular producers and made hot, current music. I guess it didnt become noticeable until he released EDM?
