Disappointing might be one word to describe Kendrick Lamar today, set to surprise some fans with a remark he made on the treatment of ethnic minorities during a recent interview with ‘Billboard.’
I wish somebody would look in our neighbourhood knowing that it’s already a situation, mentally, where it’s f—ed up. What happened to [Michael Brown] should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us? It starts from within. Don’t start with just a rally, don’t start from looting — it starts from within.
Accused of suggesting that African-Americans who “don’t have respect” for themselves are deserving of the discrimination they’re said to face, it wasn’t long before Lamar found himself on the receiving end of remarks made by ‘Chips’ rapper Azealia Banks.
What she had to say on Lamar’s comment?
Find out below…
Taking to Twitter, Ms. Banks shared:
There are still young black kids in our public schools being indoctrinated with the same **** they pumped into my head. Becoming an adult and doing my own research has really opened my eyes and I get upset to know that once on the other side of feeling like black people aren’t **** because that’s what America and my social studies textbook taught me.
I really pray for the minds of the urban youth, I really do because I was once on the side of feeling I wasn’t owed anything. HOW DARE YOU open ur face to a white publication and tell them that we don’t respect ourselves…. Speak for your fucking self. There are things in society that benefit a select few of us. fine…. But don’t put down the rest by saying they don’t respect themselves. Lol do you know about the generational effects of poverty, racism and discrimination?
When we don’t respect ourselves how can we expect them to respect us” dumbest shit I’ve ever heard a black man say.
Bought both Kendrick and Azealia’s albums, both great.
I’m siding with Azealia on this one. Saying ‘we don’t respect ourselves’ is tarring all blacks with the same brush and not looking at them like individuals with their own minds.
I understand black artist do tare each other down but YOU SHOULD LOOK IN THE MIRROR FORST! She got some nerve coming for ppl and she does nothing to help the culture herself WHAT JUST CUZ U BLACK U HELPING THE CULTURE !!
As opposed to coddling the community and expecting them to change? There is a massive disparity in percentage of White vs Black crimes in the US. At some point the “my ancestors 165 years ago were slaves” excuse won’t cut it anymore.
Why don’t you go research on employment statistics based on ethnicity (including average salary payments) too? And what about educational opportunities? Don’t be biased.
And unfortunately, your logic is emblematic of the problem. Whites do an exponentially more drugs (statistically speaking) than blacks yet drug related incarceration for blacks is much higher (and sentencing much greater). Whites receive the lion’s share of government assistance in America. These are just a few examples that you may not be aware of. Your ignorance speaks to the fact of how dangerous and pervasive miseducation can be.smh
yeah me toooo, def on her side this time around.
The Lumdy Blog Review|Mike Tyson Had S** with Model Naomi Campbell in the Bathroom
This chick needs to cut it out! What does him talking bout HIPHOP and IGGY have n e thing to do with MIKE BROWN??? HUN YOU TAKE PIX WITH BEET BOTTLES AND BARELY N E CLOTHES ON! YOU TALK S*** ON RECORDS AND CURSE AND GIVE NONE OF THE BLACK GIRLS N E THING TO REALLY LOOK UP TOO!! ITS ARTIST LIKE U DESTROYING THE CULTURE NOT LIFTING IT UP! YOU ATTACK BLACK ARTIST AND NOW U WANT ALL OF THEM TO COO-By-YA. And HOLD HANDS WITH U b^*** Please WOMAN UP AND TALK ABOUT THE WORLD AND THE CULTURE IN UR SONGS
I’m beginning to love azealia although I just can not side with her on this whole iggy situation. I don’t feel Iggy is out to sabotage “black hip hop”. IGGY has been rapping before she got fame. You may not think she’s a good rapper but this is genuine, I feel, for her. She’s hustling just like the rest of us.
Everything else Azealia banks says I agree with 100% but she needs to stop using Iggy to get her point across.
Please grow up and learn how to type and properly elaborate
Does this ignorant, racist, b**** ever shut up? Just because she opened up a middle school history book doesn’t mean she’s a scholar on the subject of discrimination. How can she sit there and complain about being discriminated while at the same time attacking Lamar for reaching out to the White community?
She nothing more than an angry, petty child who THINKS she’s an adult. She talks about not expecting to be owed anything, yet whines endlessly about her lack of success and projects her hatred onto other successful people. Childish hypocrite.
EXACTLY!!!! So much f****** haters on this damn page. Anyone in their right mind knows that this f****** horse face Azealia banks girl is too damn much….is she really going to keep attacking people because they have a different opinion from her? What does Kendrick’s comment have to do with her? She’s just mad cause he came to Iggy’s defense. Personally, I just feel that Azealia banks comes off as a HYPOCRITE, sad, bitter and mentally unstable person who lets drama overshadow her music. How can she talk about Iggy when she talks with a spanish girl accent and besides her music is more directed towards the white crowd so WTF is she talking about? This girl is more focused on negativity than her own career. You can say whatever you wanna say about Iggy but to be honest with you, most people can’t really get into Azealia’s music anyway…It’s very chaotic and all over the damn place so the question is,what do you see in Azealia Banks? is it her music that you like or is it because you have fallen under her manipulative, hater, negative and miserable spell? C’mon let’s keep it 100. All y’all m************ are just mad at Iggy’s success and one thing Azealia and her demons need to understand is that, you can never be successful if you’re always hating and mad at another person’s success. Good luck with your career Azaelia. You’re going to need all the luck in the world.
Well first of all, what does her speaking with a “Spanish girl accent” have to do with anything. 1) she could very well be afro-latina 2) even though we know she isn’t, we do know that she was practically raised by Dominicans so…. it’s authentic to her experience. What exactly is your point there?
And so what? She’s still a black girl talking with a spanish girl’s accent but wants to call out a white girl for talking with a black girl accent…IDGAF if it’s authentic or unauthentic to her experience…the fact is that she’s doing the same s*** she’s accusing someone else for and that’s part of the reasons why she comes of as a bitter hypocrite..that’s my point. Bye.
No shade Ms.Banks cause I do ROCK with your flow and some of your songs but you steady callin out Iggy for having a black, southern accent but YOU speak with a Spanish girl accent from the Bronx. I live in NYC and you sound just like Marisol Gonzalez or from Fordham road or Rosa Rodriguez from Dykman and you make music geared towards a more white crowd… So… I don’t get it
And don’t give me that “oh well thats where she was raised” crap because there are a ton of black people in those areas and they’re not going around rolling their R’s like they J.Lo or something
@Realest
But J.Lo don’t have an accent, English is her first language, still to this day she’s not fluent in Spanish.
@S******: j.lo has a whole album in Spanish babe, and she may not have a Spanish accent from Spain or Mexico but she has a “PuertoRican-American girl from the Bronx” accent and roles her R’s when she speaks. Maybe not as much anymore because of acting training etc but if you see her in her natural element, it is there FOR SURE. I know a bunch of American born- Dominican/Puerto Rican girls who have the same sound Hun. But thanks for your input
Latino isn’t a race tho it’s a culture
Remy ma has the same latin influenced Accent bc she grew up in castle hill
@FAF naw remy does not… She has a Bronx accent.. Big difference.. And say what you want as Latin not being a race, blah blah blah.. She is not Latin, nor does she speak Spanish or have anything Spanish about Her. Clearly YOU DONT live in nyc… Clearly
And remy isn’t going around calling out people for stealing culture whilst talking like Selena, either!
See you don’t get she ain’t mad about iggy rapping in a different accent it’s about the fact she doesn’t embrace the culture as in oppose to mackelemore who knows the culture isn’t nessecarily his and doesn’t try to claim it for his own
@readyornot: it’s not anyone’s duty to have to proclaim anything about what they know. When Macklemore did it I was looking at him like he was a corny ass white boy trying to prove he’s down. You don’t see black artists who crossover doing that either, so it’s not really necessary. Art is to be interpreted and can be expressed by ANYONE without having to explain ANYTHING to ANYONE
@Realest I’m not talking about people proclaiming it I’m talking about facts the culture only existed because of the struggle of black people under the thumb of the white people. So if shes gonna make “hip hop” she should at least not insult the people it was created from I quote “runaway s**** master” and write your own lyrics
Throw THAT SHADE! B*** * talking bout she grew up around DOMINCANS and s*** her mama praised Dominicans but she talking bout BLACK CULTURE
It’s no shade cause she does have a point, BUT it kinda cancels out when the very thing she is so heated about she is doing herself. Calling out a white chick for “acting black” all whilst doing it with a Spanish girl accent. Lmfao I can’t with her. She just needs to mature
fact is it doesnt matter WHERE I live, Spanish ppl can be black, white even asian descendents
I dont even like Azealia but when she’s speaking factually I will cosign her
That’s because she grew up there, you imbecile. Iggy did not grow up in the Deep South.
Lmfao she grew up in Washington heights where there are blacks people as well. I live in nyc and hang out in Washington heights ALOT and have friends of all races who gee up there the black girls there don’t run around talking like Spanish girls… Sorry Hun. You tried.
How do u talk like Spanish girls tho? Technically most Dominicans in wash heights use stereotypical black dialect and the n word doesn’t that mean they’re assimilating to black american culture?
Well clearly YOU DON’T live in nyc nor have you been to Washington heights or the Bronx because the Latino culture there couldn’t be anything further from “black culture”. You dunno what you’re talking about babe. Now you do have some that gravitate towards black culture…! But those are not that which I speak of not that majority. Please. Just stop
a vast majority of the latins I those areas don’t even speak English lmfao so.. Just be quiet..cause really..
You idiot Iggy moved to Miami when she was 16. Do your research.
@Realest
Of course she has an Spanish language album, so does Christina Aguilera, that doesn’t mean they can speak the language fluently, J.Lo has the tipycal bronx/new york accent, which many african americans have aswell, she did not learn spanish until she started promoting ‘Selena’, and even today she struggles in lots of sentences, ask a spanish speaking person if she speaks spanish correctly and you will see. Maybe what you think is a rican accent is the effect of her ex Marc, which is Puerto Rican, you know maybe she catch a little bit of that, it happens even if you move to LA, your accent change but she definitely don’t have to learn her first language aka English.
Ok but you’re going off on a tangent of irrelevancy.. You can take J.Lo out of the equation and insert a bazillion other American-born Bronx puerto rican/domincan chicks and my point would still remain the same. J.Lo wasn’t really the point of what I said so I think you’re getting a bit off topic.
@Realist
Umm, what does Azealia Banks supposedly talking like a “Spanish girl from NYC” have to do with Iggy consistently talking like a field s****?
Azealia isn’t making a MOCKERY of Spanish women from New York. Even if she were to talk like one….she grew up around them! She’s from NYC.
Unlike Iggys White Australian ass who uses SOUTHERN PLANTATION lINGO on EVERY SINGLE TRACK. Southern African American Culture was not apart of her upbringing. She’s an impostor …..U can’t say the say the same about the other Azealia
Doesn’t matter, NYC is a melting pot and she didn’t JUST GROW UP around Dominicans, she wasn’t in the Dominican Republic- she grew up in the culturally diverse nyc.! And besides Iggy’s southern rap accent (which MANY WHITE PEOPLE HAVE HEAVY SOUTHERN ACCENTS) she doesn’t walk around pretending to be some thorough bred, hood, black chick. She’s very much herself. Her rap persona is just that- a rap persona. If I spoke with Iggy on the phone I would know exactly who she is.. If I spoke to Azalea Banks I would think I was talking to the La Chiquita down the block who serves the Domincan icees from her food stand. So..
B*******!
African Americans/Cubans/Dominicans/Puerto Ricans/West Indians are all in the same boat. Especially in NYC.
The bottom black ass line is, NY in and of itself is HEAVILY populated by SPANISH people. So how are you going to compare Azealia for immulaiting a culture that contributed a lot to the city that she was raised in to Iggy?? The b**** isn’t even AMERICAN but Australian….trying to sound like a BLACK GIRL from Tennessee. The last time I checked, there were little to no African Americans in Australia.
Oh and to top it all off! She made racially offensive remarks about the very black people who she is trying to imitate. That alone makes her seem even MORE PHONEY. So no, it isn’t the same.
she does have a point though! and she has gained a lil more respect from me she seems to be very intellectual.
Intellectual if you dropped out of high school maybe.
Something a HS dropout would say.
They both have a point.
I honestly don’t see anything wrong with what Kendrick Lamar said. I think he is speaking truth. I’m over hearing anything from this Banks girl she talks waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for my taste.
Can you read? It’s because he basically noted that blacks who don’t respect themselves deserves to be killed.
Honestly I don’t believe that was his intentions. From what I got from it is that we get so upset when people down us but we’re also contributing to it in some shape or form. And I think he’s just saying we have to better as people. My opinion love 🙂
He said no such thing. Work on your reading comprehension.
@OMG Logic!!! so because I interpret his statement differently than you that means i’m not comprehending?!?!?! Get over yourself dear
If it’s OK to stereotype blacks then can we stereotype white people as serial killers and child predators??
Just sayin’
She needs to stop attacking people because they have a different opinion than her. That’s her issue. Kendrick’s statement was not dumb, he actually has a point. I think he was referring to all the violence among the black community, and the way we tear eachother down. Azealia is proving his point, and she doesn’t even know it. However, racism is still alive and well.
Azalea is right on this one. kendrick basically said the same standard bullshiit statement that the punk ass negroes who don’t want to make massa mad typically say. His career is just beginning and whitey gives his stuff critical acclaim, so he doesn’t want to rock the boat by talking against them. he proved his biitchassness last year during that whole situation with macklemore. That’s when his crediblity died. Azalea has the courage to stand up and speak the truth. She gets nothing but props for that.
So if a Black person isn’t overtly racist against Whites then he’s a “punk ass negro?”
Hilarious.
The funny thing is, they are both wrong. Azealia continues to be under the impression that she has successfully educated herself simply by Google-searching whatever articles & studies happen to fit her already biased, childish, overly-simplified and misinformed views. Kendrick, on the other hand, is making a wild generalization about an entire race of people which, again, falls under the categories of childish, overly-simplified & misinformed. This, I’m afraid, is nothing more than two clueless individuals who just so happen to have huge audiences who buy into every last word they say, arguing over something they know very little about.
For Azalea Banks to be pissing this many people off, clearly she’s hitting a nerve that nobody wants to admit to.
It’s kind of like Kim Kardashian. Everyone is sick of her, but for some reason she won’t go away.
He has a point. I feel the same way about gay people. People would accept them if they learned to respect themselves and not act like horny deviants all the damn time.
I think you’re confusing “gay people” with men in general. You think if women weren’t a brick wall straight men wouldn’t be as promiscuous as gay men? You’d have to be delusional to disagree.
Gay people are more promiscuous than straight people dear and everyone knows that it’s true which is why dating apps like Grinder and Jackd are so popular. You don’t have to agree with me, but Kendrick is right about earning respect. Victims of gay hate crimes would still be alive today if they respected themselves.
Sweetheart are you illiterate, or did you just ignore everything I wrote? MEN in general are more sexually active than women. The reason heterosexual men aren’t as promiscuous as homosexual men is because they don’t have the opportunity because women have a much lower s** drive. Remove women from the equation and you have the answer as to why homosexual men are the most promiscuous group on average.
Look at homosexual women. They are the least sexually active group and are more likely to remain in a single relationship than even straight couples.
So you agree that gay people are promiscuous and have little self control?
Your illiteracy and endless fallacious arguments tell me I’m wasting my time trying to argue with you.
Maybe that gay man that clearly had no self-control should have let Martin King Jr. be the typical angry, violent protester instead of molding him into one of the greatest civil rights activists in history.
Your point which is very obvious by the way, did not need to be made at the expense of a minority that has not only suffered longer than African Americans, but helped them gain their own equality while still hoping to one day have theirs.
If you’re self esteem is so crap that you need validation from a gay and women hating society that’s on you. Straight men be whoring it out since the rock ages and no one says a thing. So you’re not only white biased but homophobic. RIP your dead brain cells.
@Paulo @OMG Logic!!! Both of you are wrong you doing exactly what kendrick did painting people with the same brush yes some gay people are promiscuous but not all of them. so you should stop saying gay people are promiscuous unless you can prove all of them are and to @Lacey it’s clear you didn’t go to school or just were dropped on the head as a baby. every gay person has their own choice and should be entitled to it ,just like straight people. To say victims or gay hate crime brought it upon themselves by being promiscous how dumb are you. So how come the promiscuous people out there male and female that are straight aren’t victims of hate crime is it because they are straight?.
I Just Can’t with some of the illiteracy and ignorant s*** I’ve seen on this blog
And you both are ignorant if that’s the case.
The conversation is about equality and crimes against humanity.
You, as well as Lamar, are victim-blaming deflecting from an issue of equality to a an issue of self-respect.
You’re no worse than people who say r*** victims deserved to be r**** because they of how they carry themselves.
But wait…
Do you really think every White person in America respects themselves? And that equates to equality? Justice?
This country is more f***** up than I thought.
Gay hate crimes wouldn’t happen if gay people learned to have some self respect and stopped hanging around public toilets looking for s**.
They bring it on themselves if you ask me.
Gay men used toilets because they were persecuted everywhere else for 2,000 years unlike Blacks 500. Keep trying silly girl.
So all gay people do that? So all white people must smoke meth and live in trailer parks… All black folks must be on food stamps and wear weaves.. All latins must have snuck here on a boat.. All Asian people eat dogs and have tiny penises .. Etc etc..! You sound soooooooo ignorant
@Realest But weren’t you the same one agreeing with Kendrick’s generalizations about black people? We’re on the same page honey. People should earn the respect they want from society.
@lacey I was? I don’t recall saying anything about what Kendrick said…
Oh and by the way, are you comparing the active persecution, denial of rights, and in some countries-hunting of gays to the occasional instance of questionable racism?
Black people have all the rights that White people do. Can the same be said of gay people?
Black people earned their rights because they fought for them after being captured, tortured, r**** and enslaved for centuries.
A gay person can walk into a room full of homophobes and leave unharmed because you can’t tell when someone is gay.
Could a black person be just as unharmed if they walked into a room full of racists? No.
And gay people have been beaten, r****, and killed for MILLENNIA now. Not centuries, millennia. No, you can’t always tell when someone is gay, but that doesn’t stop people from assuming. You also forget (and take for granted) that a gay person can’t so much as hold their partner’s hand without being verbally attacked in public even here in the US.
But no one asked you, though. Keep your retarded font for yourself.
You can thumbs me down all you want but you know it’s true. Gay people say they want to be treated like everybody else but don’t know how to behave in polite society. They lust after men who don’t want them, have s** with complete strangers in public and then wonder why people beat them up.
Kendrick is totally right, if you want basic human rights you need to act like a human and gays don’t.
Funny considering you’re using a machine pioneered by a gay man.
Gay men don’t want to be treated like everyone else. Gays are social climbing attention seekers and opportunists who want is to be coddled by society they were by their mothers. You so much as roll your eyes at them or their eccentricities and they huff and act like you’re out to take something from them.
So many ignorant comments above me.
I get where Kendrick is coming from but he’s wrong for classing an entire in the same box. He’s perpetuating ignorant stereotypes. He’s lost some major point’s with that one.
And I agree with Azealia, but girl sometimes silence is golden.
*race
I’m very disappointed in Kendrick, just don’t say anything. Keep out of it because with that mentality, the music you’re speaking now is not resonating within me at all.
Everyone is mad at me but they still can’t explain why gays deserve respect when they dont respect themselves.
They say they want marriage equality but what have they done to prove they deserve it? S** in public toilets? Promiscuity? Lusting after straight men who don’t want them? I respect the ones who carry themselves with class but they’re in the minority. The majority deserve everything that happens to them because they don’t respect themselves.
Your argument is the equivalent of me traveling back to 1968 and saying why should we allow Black men to marry our White daughters? Why should we allow them to lust after our White children who don’t want them. I respect the negroes who stay with their own people, but they’re in the minority.
You don’t get to dictate equality. EVERYONE should have equal rights. Regardless of whatever 1970s p0rn warped viewpoint you seem to have of gay men.
“Your argument is the equivalent of me traveling back to 1968 and saying why should we allow Black men to marry our White daughters?”
Actually it isn’t. The “white daughters” could easily have been attracted to the “Black men” because both parties are hetero. I’m talking about a men wanting to have s** with someone who doesn’t want to have s** with men.
By the way, if white people don’t get to dictate equality where do you get off agreeing with Kendrick?
She still crying because she’s black.
id cry if i were a darkie too.
Pipe down honkey
….says casper the ugly ghost. See thru clear people trying to talk about darkies. Go get a tan…. u know u need to.
@Lacey you’re either trolling or you were dropped as a baby.
Educate yourself before jumping on topics you clearly have no idea what they’re about. Saying g** people deserve homophobic hate crimes(no human deserves to die based on sexuality, race, religious affiliations etc) speaks volumes about you. I won’t even argue with you. I sincerely hope you get the professional help you desperately need. And don’t @me until you come at me with a rational counter argument or response.
Kendrick is already on my sh-t list for defending Iggy muthafuckn Azalea. Seriously brotha man, just step back and keep the public statements on the low for awhile.
When did Kendrick morph into Uncle Tom???
@Realist
She’s an impostor …..U can’t say the same about the other Azealia.
I’m a really big fan of this dude “Kendrick Lamer” and I was really looking forward to his album, but I’m not gonna buy his album when it comes out! He raps about something different and talk about something different! I don’t get him anymore…Bye
Gay people are only care about black civil rights when they think it can help them but it can’t because being black and being gay is not the same thing. Like I said, a gay person can hide their sexuality and never face a single piece of hatred but a black person can’t hide their race.
It’s really as simple as that.
This is why I love with J cole! He’s a real homie
Please J cole dont know if he’s Black or White he’s that messed up.
It’s ok for people to downplay the black experience but look what happens when you talk about gay people who haven’t even gone through HALF of what blacks have?
The difference is, Gay people dont have to publicly display the fact that they are Gay. They dont have do hide it but they can if NEED BE. We dont have that option. We can’t mask our blackness.
Azealia Banks is right but are we going to necessarily believe a written article publication word for word?
And not only that I believe Kendrick probably did or meant to say “A few” instead of generalizing a whole race.
Anyways I’m interested to hear his response though.
HASHTAG: #MyHeadHurts
So let’s get this straight. NONE of the gay people here have even bothered to deny that all gay people are promiscuous but then turn around and say it’s ok to generalize about Africanamerican folk.
That’s just so funny to me. I have an idea. How about you stop acting like black people deserve to be treated like s*** because the black people YOU know act like s***?
If you learn to do that I can learn to stop judging gay people based on what some of them do.
Deal?
@lacey me step in here really quickly. All gay people are not promiscuous. You keep trying to make that the basis of your argument but its not true. I can go up and down instagram and twitter and point out all of the straight men who talk about this woman they have slept with and so forth and so on. I am confused about what you are trying to portray. Its like you are sitting at your keyboard trying to formulate a point and it makes no sense. How did Azalea banks being upset with something kendrick lamar said have anything to do with gay people being promiscuous.
Shut up. You’re the one acting like and ignorant homophobic b****. No one is obligated to address your twisted view of gayhood. Think what you like. Feel free to uneducate yourself. But You’re so f****** hypocrite… you’re the one picking a few gay men who act racist and saying that the whole gay community is racist. A lot of black people have no prejudice against gay people – you just happen to be a dumb f*** regardlesa of your ethnicity.
Lacey is right. Gay men in general are perverts with a borderline sociopath mentality. When my brother was 14 one time he was out walking his dog and got propositioned by some old gay guy. And more than once when I’ve been to the gym inside the locker room I walked in on something that shouldn’t have been happening. And pretty much all the parks nearby are known cruising spots for gay ass perverts looking for action. Now these same perverts want society and the media to embrace them so they can pretend to be normal when they not waggin d**** at each other in public restrooms and scream homophobia when you threaten to beat their ass for looking at you funny. Nah.
What parks i’d love to go to them
I don’t care what anybody says. I like Zee and her sassiness and like that she is very out spoken. I heard her album and I give it 4 out of 5 stars most definitely copping the CD when it drops in February. She has more growing to do bcuz she recorded those songs at 18 or 19 yes old but I know at 23 her creative mind is probably even more crazy. I love how she put calypso in her song Idle Delilah, she took old school hip hop in gimme a Chance then took it to a Latin vibe towards the end of song. She put some opera in JFK, she put jazz rapping over a fast beat in Desperado, went fusion rnb with Wallace rapped over a trapped in Ice Princess then went edm in the song. Love how she went house music in songs like Luxury, Chasing time, sods and Miss Camaraderie. I feel like she used every aspect of what has experienced in New York then took it to London town then came back to New York. I never thought I would be this excited about new school artists like I am with Ms. Azealia Banks. She even got lessoning to my old school favs like Big Daddy Kane, Eric B and Rakim, Gang Starr, Chubb Rock, The Beat Nuts, Black Sheep, Tupsc, Biggie, Wu tang clan, fugees and Lauryn hil, big pun and many more old school hip hop artists. She even got me listening to Cece Peniston, Desiree, soul to soul, Janet Jackson, Crystal Waters. AB most definitely has a long future ahead of her.
“SHE IS MOST DEFINITELY THIS GENERATION’S LAURYN HILL”
Oh , so black people “not having respect for themselves” is a justification now Kendrick? We deserve to be shot or treated like second class citizens?
So what was the justification 300 years ago when they were working our ancestors as slaves?
Better yet, what was the reasoning behind it 50 years ago when our white counterparts were still spitting on us and lynching us from trees????
I side with Kendrick.
Black People are all put in a stereotypical box unfortunately because of the antics.. although it’s unfair to generalize us all. But let’s face it, blacks are only 13% of U.S but 47% of emprisoned criminals are black! See the ratio? I understand when he says “we need to to have more respect for ourselves”. He does have a point
…whatever you ankle grabbing sell out. It’s also a documented fact that black men are twice as likely to receive a prison sentence for pettier crimes (like marijuana possession or disorderly conduct) than white men who are more likely to get probation after being charged with the same offense.
Hmm. Good point
Right, and a large number of those black people were disproportionately incarcerated on misdemeanors, drug offenses, and other petty charges. But why?
Bernie Madaolf, a White man, stole more money than any black person combined. There are more rapes committed by white men than black men in the United States…INCLUDING SLAVERY. The are all facts. So I’m not buying it.
First we had slavery, then the black codes, and now the prison system.
Its no coincidence #ThinkAboutIt
Truu
Still doesn’t make it right for whites to kill blacks tho!
I side with Kendrick Lamar. It’s sad when I’m surrounded by people of my color who can’t speak or try to speak grammatically correct, and just talk about b******* that doesn’t matter and worry about the wrong things in life like iPhones and Beats and brands… it makes me worry about them. We should strive for education, for getting out of the situations life has handed us.
I did not grow up wealthy or in the best situation, but I worked my ass to get out of it. Now I’m in my thirties, am a doctoral educated man who has done it for himself. The youth today has more government support than I did as well. When I see them struggling to eat but walking around with an iPhone, when I see them skipping school and wishing for better education at the same time, it makes me upset. We are letting ourselves down. Azealia is completely wrong. Everyone gets the respect they deserve; and when you don’t deserve it, you don’t get it.
Agreed
But there’s one problem. If the people you talk about are the same color as you didn’t you ever stop to think and realize that they’re lack of education has more to do with their culture than their race.
Why is it that you tied their lack of education to their race? Surely, as an educated black person you would know that you did well because you worked hard not because you were black or white.
Those people you talk about are just as uneducated as any hillbilly but yet you wouldn’t decide that most white people where “white trash” because of something a hillbilly did, would you.
@Metzo
Right, and a large number of those black people were disproportionately incarcerated on misdemeanors, drug offenses, and other petty charges. But why?
Bernie Madolf, a White man, stole more money than any black person combined. There are more rapes committed by white men than black men in the United States…INCLUDING SLAVERY. These are all facts. So I’m not buying it.
First we had slavery, then the black codes, and now the prison system.
Its no coincidence #ThinkAboutIt

Kendrick Lamar
Is she still talking s*** smh If she would put this much effort into her struggling career, she would be successful.
OMG mmmm DAMN Dis Biotch is giving me LIFE. YES! YES YESSSSSS!!! Mmmmmmm damn I think I just wet ma damn self
I agree with Kendrick, AB has some points sometimes she’s so problematic tho.
Kendrick didn’t even say anything problematic really (basically just telling them to let Iggy be) but these Black Twitter Social Justice Warriors of course had to step in and act like he was defending Hitler or something.
Azealia has a point, still, but it’s pretty obvious she’s doing this SJW thing because the indie/white people don’t really care for her anymore because of all her old tweets. Like just last week she was defending the use of multiple slurs that her target audience would find offensive.
Kendrick’s remarks are jarring. This is a perfect example of when trying to be politically correct goes wrong. We know how Azealia is, she may be mad at him supporting Iggy, but she made some very valid points. Kendrick acts as if he doesn’t know about the crippling racism and it’s impact on the daily life of African Americans. People get tired of being treated like their lives don’t matter just because of the color of their skin. Ferguson should’ve been handled differently, from the looters and protesters to the actual verdict! You have people condemning the peaceful protests of the “I can’t breathe movement”, which is sad. African Americans are always lumped together when a few do something violent and it’s not right. Since when has it been a crime to be outraged by racial injustice, but you want us to mourn the people in Paris killed because someone couldn’t respect their freedom of speech, see the irony? Anytime African Americans have something to say about race, it’s said we’re playing the race card! However racist get a pass on everything. Kendrick comments shows how insensitive and blind he is to the issues or losing those grammys warped his mind. Either or I’m siding with Azealia on this one and I never thought I side with her over Kendrick.
All races JUST MAKE GOOD MUSIC & YOUR FANS WILL VIBE WITH YOU!!
Iggy is a icon white media is eating this up she’s the next Taylor Swift
Igloo Australia’s man is Kendrick Lamar’s cousin isn’t he?
We all know she talks sh$t!
MMMMMMM I LOVE BIG VEINY COCKKKKKSSSS
I Agree with Kendrick all all this talk abt racism and all. We are out here killing our own kind.. you get mad when a white man comes out a shoot you want to protest but instead but scare to protest in your own on hood abt killing and volience and the no snitch rules..gtfkoh!
Who is she? Why she’s causing drama again?
I agree with Kendrick and I know that his heart isn’t negative against black people. He just means that we must do the inner work of healing. I think people know what he is talking about, I don’t understand why that isn’t accepted, too real?
