Sources close to Billboard tell the publication that the record label are to ship 3.6 million units of the singer’s third studio album to the United States after industry insiders predicted that it could open with sales of over 1 million units in the market.
If true, it would mark largest number of new-release CDs shipped in this decade and follow in the footsteps of *NSYNC’s ‘No Strings Attached’ which shipped 4.2 million units fifteen years ago in the year 2000.
1.5 million is the figure the label (also home to Christina Aguilera & Beyonce) plans to welcome when the album finds its way to retailers on November 20th and expects to have cross the 4 million units sold milestone by Christmas day.

Why don’t they just go ahead and ship 4 million and call it a day? It’ll save a lot of the hassle. Plus, it’ll all be purchased within four weeks anyway. This album just may very well break the record for fastest selling diamond certified album. I can see it already. Sorry to whoever held that record for dear life ’cause she’s coming with an army of people ready to spend their money. OMG! Just imagine if her album was priced at $19.95. It wouldn’t matter anyway because people would still but it without thinking.
No Strings Attached only shipped that much first week in March 2000 because at the beginning of that week there were sales shortages at stores. it’s also a bigger sales achievement now because the sales climate is down so sharply from what it was in those days. N’Sync also owns the calendar year record with 9.93 million copies of no strings attached sold from it’s March 21st 2000 release to December 30th 2000 the sales record will be Broken Columbia Records projects 1.5 million physical copies and over a million digital copies sold first week

Next week will be way more exciting than that boring ass “battle” between Bieber and 1D (in which Justin easily won because he cried and prostituted himself on every promo spot possible). Will she break NSYNC’s record? If she does that’s a record she will probably hold forever since no one except Taylor and Beyoncé (plus maybe Drake) can even do 500K in pure sales first week anymore.
Also I’m dying laughing at people who stan basic prostitutes with no respect from either the GP or critics (at least most of my faves have critical acclaim) or any say in their careers fuming not just on here but on every site about her slayage. OMG! This is how albums were shipped back in the day. Sony is over-shipping her albums! They must feel REAL comfortable in her selling power to do that in this day & age. Great for Adele.
