Did you catch the premiere of new show ‘Uncle Buck’ on ABC last night? If not, you may be one of the few who didn’t, as the new sitcom has debuted with impressive ratings.
Full story below…
The premiere of “Urban” adaptation of the 1989 film was watched by 5.2 million total viewers and delivered a 1.5 rating.
In doing so, the show has awarded the network its best ratings for the time-slot since December of 2014, while also scoring the highest demographic numbers for the network in the last eight months.
ABC also states that the Mike Epps led show is broadcast TV’s most successful summertime comedy launch in the last seven years. While the new sitcom boasts talent from Nia Long and James Lesure, critical response hasn’t fared well for the show, with critics giving the show generally unfavourable reviews.
Nonetheless, ‘Uncle Buck’ certainly struck a chord with viewers, proving to be a winner for ABC – and will likely face renewal if audience interest remains high.
‘Uncle Buck’ airs Tuesday’s 9pm on ABC.

5.2 million viewers doesn’t sound very promising considering the numbers will likely dip next week.
