John Legend has unleashed a new jam in the form of ‘Penthouse Floor.’
The funky cut features Chance The Rapper and appears on the 10-time Grammy winner’s 5th studio album ‘Darkness And Light’ (due Dec. 2nd).
Though designed with the dance-floor in mind, the cut manages to pack a potent punch lyrically too.
Legend’s “penthouse” refers to the elusive level of success so many are denied due to prejudice.
Take a listen after the jump…
A winner.
Per our exclusive preview, ‘Darkness And Light’ boasts a variety of textures and tones and ‘Penthouse’ does a fine job of showcasing that.
Roll on December 2nd.
I rather prefer #LoveMeNown
Not feeling it. Love me Now is the funk though.
Already, the two songs I’ve heard from this new project are better than all of whatever that last album was.
His stuff is always solid but commercially this album will do the same numbers as Alicia’s.
I appreciate our entertainers that are trying to use their platform for good and send out positive messages but why not make it a little more palatable…atleast to bring the people in and get them excited. Just like Alicia I feel the message will not reach as many as it could simply because of how it’ all comes together. What’s the purpose of having a great message if no one hears it ?!? Maybe I approached the song with to highbof expectations. Idk
Nice song
