Kehlani celebrated the release of her debut album ‘SweetSexySavage’ with a high-octane performance of ‘CRZY’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Backed by an army of dancers, the Bay Area belle aimed to make her moment count.
Did she succeed? Watch below and let us know…
So…
While energized and vocally solid, the performance was hindered by the odd decision to make Kehlani visibly invisible.
Indeed, though it was possible to see her, one couldn’t actually see “her” at all.
Like, whose idea was it to light the stage like that?
Not the best look given that she’s a) a new artist and b) on a platform designed to broaden her reach.
If a viewer watching didn’t know Kehlani before, it’s unlikely they’d be any wiser moving forward.
From our vantage point, this was a bit of a missed opportunity. But, enough from us. What are…
This song should’ve been a hit
I agree Sam, to some degree. As luckily for her if she had anyone interested in that performance and wanted to know more about her, they can simply just look her up on social media. But yes,, that was definitely a miscue.

I see her doing 30K – 40K she has a loyal fanbase.

It’s weird how interested I was in Kehlani before when she was being managed by Nick Cannon and then I literally forgot about her after.
This was a nice little performance, and while I agree that the lighting was a little off (though this might have been some sort of unintended lightning mishap), it kind of worked to her favour, as it kind of adds to her mystique.
She reminds me too much of an artist already there …….. Rihanna.
I
Her album SLAYS tho.
Rihanna got all these girls wanting to be savages…..???
The music industry knows that majority of America is racist. It makes sense to dim her face because it makes the viewer more curious of her.
And to the naysayers and young kids, if you don’t believe me, read up on it. LA Reid and Clive Davis have talked about using no photos on album covers for certain singers because of their race.
It’s still relevant today.
This song was amazing I wanted it to become a sleeper hit too.
Loving everything about her and her angle. Hands up and fingers crossed. I hope she’s one of the new breeeds. I’m here for it!
I like the song dont care for the person sining it! All newcomers in Rnb lack originllity its like everything in the RnB genre has been done already! So Kehlani is no different than Alissia Cara or Tori Kelly Tinashe all nothing orginal really!
Talented. But uninteresting. She needs a new sound. That sound is too much like you know who. And her image to me is just tired and played. The bad girl with a million tats thing. It’s old. She needs a new team to give her a new and refreshing sound and look. Because she ain’t been out for that long and she ain’t that old and people are already getting over her. That’s what happens when you come out sounding and looking like what’s already been out for the past 10 damn years. I hear she has an interesting story. Homelessness right? Capitalize off that, maybe?
But it’s early in her career so there’s still hope!
Nice
Her stage presence was on point, she seemed confident, I love that it was nice bop, gave me a little Choreo, but girl….. Fire your stylist, what look was that???? I’m not saying you gotta glam it up if you wanna be edgy and urban but she looked a hot mess.
