Diana Ross has a talent and legacy that are legendary.
This year’s American Music Awards will salute her accordingly with the Lifetime Achievement honor.
Full story below…
The award recognizes artists who have made outstanding contributions to the music industry and popular culture at large.
So it goes without saying that Ross is wholly fitting. From her humble beginnings, to sparkling success as part of The Supremes, to her iconic solo career. She’s done it all.
Ross, who will also be performing at the November 19th ceremony, has a long-running relationship with the AMAs. She hosted the show in 1986 and 1987, and presented the first-ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence to Taylor Swift in 2014. To date, she has seven AMAs to her name.
Speaking on the honor, Miss Ross said in a statement:
“I have endless memories of all the years that I have appeared on the American Music Awards. It started with Dick Clark and the Caravan of Stars and American Bandstand. It was Dick Clark who said, ‘Music is the soundtrack of our lives.’ So true. I am so excited to be receiving this honorable award.”
Congrats are most certainly in order.
The 2017 AMAs will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in LA on Sunday, November 19th at 8pm. E.T. on ABC. Click here for the click here for the full nominations list.
So deserving!! She is a true BOSS!! So interesting the fact that the artists of my youth (I’m an 80’s kid) have gone on to glory (Mike, Whit, Prince, Luther,….) and yet the stars of my mom’s generation like Diana Ross are still here and standing. I saw her in concert this summer for the first time and she was amazing. Sounded great and still had that stage presence that stands out!! Congrats Miss Ross!!!
DIANA ROSS is the ORIGINAL DIVA. This tribute better bring BEYONCE MARIAH TONI BRAXTON, all the girls look to Diana. She is truly the personification of diva and legend.
Exactly, I better not see Justinesha Bieber up there singing squeaky and flat lol
I know Diana Ross is very popular but I don’t see it. She always looked old even when she was 20 she always look 40 or older. Her voice is thin with limited range. I know she is legendary maybe it’s because I’m a millennium. Idk
You sound dumb as a f u c k. I’m a “millennium” too so saying that means nothing! Most of today’s singers age like sour milk and have “thin voices with limited range” so save your subliminal hate for Ms. Ross. I would respect you better if you just plainly said “I don’t like Diana Ross” but instead you say a bunch of BLAH because you are too afraid to express your opinions. #Lame #Weak #Hater
Thank you Jasmine for stating facts and calling out this hater…the nerve of some people
Read his ass Jasmine!
It’s millennial you dumbass. Reading more would help your knowledge, vocabulary and spelling. She is a legend. No stfu
Jasmine read you like the New Testament hunnie lol ?
This wont save their ratings.
We love Miss Ross! ?
*sung in acapella* “If there’s a cure for this, I don’t want it, don’t want it…”
lol yaaas
That’s really cool, glad to see actual legends honored.
The original diva and this honor is definitely deserved.
How is this generation always calling legends out for vocals when everybody is mumbling n monotone… but congrats Pioneering legend….she was the first black crossover pop mega star female honestly
This!
Well deserved!! Ms. Ross is the BOSS!!
I’m so excited! I hope she brings the legends out in her honor. I’m thinking Janet (if she wants to play) and Mariah would be great presenters…. Toni Braxton and Beyonce would be on my list as well. She deserves nothing but Royalty. Ms Ross is the BOSS!
How amazing she deserves it I suppose…
Miss Ross put the D in D-I-V-A. Truly a living legend and well deserved. I’d love to see a Grammy tribute as well similar to the Aretha one a few years ago. Diana is and will always be The Boss
So well deserved. Love her! To my mother’s generation, she was simply Diana — in the same way that Beyonce, Rihanna, and Mariah don’t need surnames.
Wow truly unexpected. It´s time these nowadays terrible shows (due to equally terrible quality of music and most artists) gave us something unexpected. Deserved obviously.
