Fans of Destiny’s Child were stunned three months ago when one-third of the top-selling girl group, Michelle Williams, took to CBS morning talk show, ‘The Talk,’ to reveal she was suicidal at the height of the group’s fame [click here to read more].
Publicly detailing a lengthy private battle with depression, the singer’s shocking confession generated an outpouring of love and support in the days following the announcement. That very support, she says in a recent interview with ‘Forbes’ magazine, is part of the reason she feels the condition is part of her past.
Taking to the famed business mag to discuss matters of mental health and lend an encouraging word for readers along the way, look inside to see just what the ‘Heard a Word’ wailer says her life looks like after depression:
WILLIAMS ON WHAT DEPRESSION IS:
“It is a profound sadness, a profound worthlessness, which even after you have accomplished so much – you can be the best wife, mom, artist in the world but you don’t feel like that – you feel worthless. So none of your career accomplishments, none of that even matters.”
WILLIAMS ON HOW SHE OVERCAME DEPRESSION:
“I had a tribe. I had my best friend, an amazing therapist, my manager walked with me. I mean just showing so much compassion. You need people who are invested in you, who say, ‘you got this. What do you think you need? We’re going to get it for you. Is it going to the doctor? Is it going away for 60 days? What is it?”
“I did 90 days of nothing and it was some of the most excruciating 90 days – it was intense moments of letting stuff go, having hurtful conversations that needed to take place, therapy, bible study, and more.”
WILLIAMS ON WHY SHE REVEALED HER PRIVATE STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION:
“There’s more to this than just doing it for myself. It’s really about affecting people positively.”

I love Michelle. No side jokes or shade need be thrown. She is a woman of God. Destiny’s Child 4 life
Wow, that’s really sad. I had no idea Michelle had this battle with depression going on! I hope she’s really in a better place now! People can be so cruel online and I’m sure the negativity managed to get her feeling down at times! Hopefully she’s not feeding into any of that stuff now!
It’s sad that she felt or feel that way. I think DC should have done one more album after DF, it would have launched her career off better because she had the best parts on that last album. Even she stated that she was becoming into her own on the last tour, but before you knew it, it was over.
Barely comment on here, but i agree with this statement…. one more album definitely would’ve made fans love Michelle more. To be honest, Destiny Fulfilled was their final album, but first and only album where Michelle really-really had leads on every song.
But Destiny’s Child was formed to boost Queen B’s career…. hence the reason it was never called Destinys Children ?
Bey, Matthew and that Tina made poor Michelle sick
Tenitra has always been my spirit guide, she’s a holier part of my life!!
