Def Jam, the label behind the careers of Rihanna, Ashanti and Mariah Carey, is transitioning.
Keen to rebuild following the departures and dismissals of a number of its artists, the Paul Rosenberg-fronted label now sets its sights on the future and has enlisted a team of in-the-know tastemakers from the world of Urban music to help it do so.
First on the agenda?
You.
Exciting news below…
Rosenberg rose in industry ranks to become the CEO/President of Def Jam Recordings following in the footsteps of predecessors Steve Bartels and Jay-Z.
Of course, Rihanna’s decision to part ways with the company before the unveiling of her new album ‘ANTI’ means the group now has room to find, sign and develop a new wave of artists to follow in her ground-breaking footsteps.
HITS Daily Double has now revealed that the label is now searching and high low for stream-friendly act this year and is actively scoping the scene for what they hope will be their next breakout star.
To expand the label’s aggressive pursuit of stream-friendly new acts, a cadre of hip-hop-minded consultants is serving as a scouting force.
Def Jam was founded in 1984 and lives within the Universal Music Group umbrella.
Why do you always feel the need to throw shade @ the Queen Rihanna? What does Rihanna have to do with/ Def Jam searching for new talent? How can you consistently shade Rihanna, who has a history of consecutive winning, but praise Nicki Minaj?
