The past week saw the songbird hatch new album ‘Thank U, Next.’
And while the project arrives just six months after its predecessor ‘Sweetener,’ it doesn’t seem like the masses have Ari fatigue. Quite the contrary.
Because, the LP – which has yielded two #1 singles already – is topping earlier sales forecasts.

While initial predictions had the album on course for a debut with numbers between 270,000-300,000, they’ve now been revised upwards.

Wow. Solid on both pure and streaming. I think if any artist from newer comers or vets can do 100k pure sales & another 100k + streams, that’s good sales in today’s world. It would interesting to see how the vets perform these upcoming eras in a streaming world.
So far the only VETS who has proven that they can perform thru pure, digital and streams are Drake, Taylor, Adele and Rihanna.

Except that Rihanna is the 3rd highest selling female artist of all time behind Madonna and Celine Dion. She is the 10th most successful charting Artist of all time according to Billboard. Just image how much more successful she would be if Black people actually bought her music the way white people go out and buy T. Swift and Adele’s music.

The bar gets lower and lower every year. 100k used to only be acceptable for the r&b artists who weren’t in the popular genre, but was considered nothing short of an epic flop for the pop artists. These days cracking 300k in pure sales first week is unheard of and 100k is normal.

Ariana Grande is the Queen! Glad more and more people are supporting her. Though I have to ask, where were you people five years ago? Ariana has always been incredibly talented. I get to see her live in Albany next month. So excited.

Guys, you do realize that Adele has a mere 6 songs that have reached the top 10, don’t you? By comparison, if Break Up and Needy make it, Ariana will have 14 songs. And Rihanna has even more. Adele is successful in some areas, but much less so in others. She had two successful albums, hardly the legend some make her out to be.
Such a horrible album, tho….
She should be selling more with these huge hits. But these are great numbers overall.
