Beyonce has whipped the BeyHive into even more of a frenzy about ‘Black Is King.’
The hotly anticipated visual album premieres on Disney+ tomorrow (July 31) and promises to be an epic affair.
Moments ago, Queen Bey unleashed a brand new extended trailer showing more from the film that she bills as celebration of blackness and her love letter to Africa.
Based on her critically acclaimed compilation ‘The Lion King: The Gift,’ the flick will bring to life music from the project – including ‘Already,’ ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ ‘Mood 4 Eva,’ and – per this fresh teaser – new song ‘Black Parade.’

“Lion King: The Gift/Black is King” project similar to her past projects… Beychella, “Everything is Love” “Lemonade“, “Beyoncé“, “4”? Every single project is conceptually different. None of those things sound remotely the same either so thats off the table. In fact, the ONLY thing they have in common is that they prioritize Afrocentrism in theme and in imagery and black culture. So the fact that you are actually complaining about her repetitively celebrating blackness is… strange. To say the least. Because the music doesn’t sound the same and the media hasn’t even BEGUN to see enough positive representation of African people and culture in film, so it’s not like you can lie and say you’ve heard and seen it all and you’re tired of it. Just say you’re tired of seeing black people In a setting that’s not a night club with half naked women under LEDs and go.

Society is used to treating African culture as less important and less deserving, which is why im actually really impressed with whay Bey is doing. Strangely its the same people who claim so vehemently that ‘black lives matter’ yet get ‘bored’ with the origins of black people, which is Africa. And from my understanding this is not a new studio album, its a film. so I dont get whats redudant here.

If she’s Being repetitive about highlighting black people, then that should be a GOOD thing, and yet, some of these people (who I’m convinced are actually the same people with different accounts), are trying to frame it as if it’s a negative, but it only exposed them as far as I’m concerned. There is so much diversity in Africa and Beyoncé is just showing, a tinnyyyyyy fraction of it. There’s so much the west hasn’t seen. So much the world hasn’t seen. So this whole, “this looks the same, this is repetitive, etc.” Nonsense some of these comments say is pure bullsh**. These people know NOTHING about Africa, but are “tired of seeing it”. Make it make sense. What they really mean, is they’re sick of seeing black people and African people unapologetically be themselves and get celebrated for it.
Nice. As an African I do feel proud watching these aesthetics, a little bit cringey honestly, because Africanism is not for everybody. Im loving how both Bey and Rih are planting their roots in this industry, as opposed to churning out forgettable bubblegum pop songs for Tik tokers. The gift was paid dust and didn’t sell well but you have to admire the way she turned the project around. Retelling the lion king using her own music as a visual album is quite genius. Visual albums are her thing and I’m glad she consistently finds ways to make each project different and interesting. Beyhive should pay the haters dust they have their Disney+ subscription ready to watch it I welcome them to continue to pay our fav their undivided attention and contribute to her continued success.
