With a New Year has come a new record label for Miley Cyrus.
Full story below…
After seven years and four albums, the Pop starlet has left her longtime recording home at RCA.
It’s been confirmed today that she’s made a lateral move to fellow Sony Music imprint, Columbia Records.
She’s in impeccable company, as the label is home to music titans Beyonce and Adele. It also boasts the likes of John Legend, Harry Styles, and Pharrell Williams.
The move notably reunites the singer with Columbia’s chief Ron Perry, who signed Cyrus to RCA during his tenure at that label.
Cyrus, who released her last album ‘Plastic Hearts’ in November, made headlines shortly after its arrival when she publicly bemoaned what some fans claim was an undershipment of the LP.
At the time, she tweeted:
“My fans are everything to me & to know y’all are disappointed when going out to stores/calling/checking stock to be let down I am equally/if not more frustrated.
When choosing the 11/27 THE SUGGESTED DATE for album release my team and I were never told major retailers don’t stick physical albums on Black Friday and wouldn’t get copies of PH until a few weeks after release. The packaging of the record is intimate, honest, and a visual reflection of the sound of my new record that I am so proud of. It was created BY ME personally at home making art FOR YOU. I want it in your hands.
I’ve outgrown blame. It’s a waste of time & energy. This album was a labor of love and nothing can sabotage my love for the record my collaborators & I created. xxMC.”
With that situation in the rearview, it looks like Cyrus is strutting on with her career with an extra pep in her step.
***************
We’ve long felt she had a talent that hadn’t quite achieved its full potential. There was always a “something” not quite right. Indeed, when a slay single would surface, the rest of the project wouldn’t follow suit. Or when she’d garner momentum with one sound, she’d switch up to something else – which would oft prevent the cultivation of a definitive artistic identity and thus made it hard to grow a fanbase exponentially.
Perhaps under the Columbia umbrella, she will flourish like we know she can.
Hopefully she can find a safe shelter which can provide her a shower💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿
After which she can give you a golden one with a squeeeeeze of shitpaste to clean your teeth with
Gurl bye! I don’t talk to homeless💅🏿💅🏿 I’ll let you drink my diva cup if you behave 🤳🏿🤳🏿🤳🏿
Yayy finally RCA is trash label. Normani will soon find out too. With that career going nowhere fast
Hopefully we get plastic hearts deluxe edition now
Somebody is f****** her career up we just can pin point where Miley is going wrong .
