Tank‘s longevity in the music industry is not only thanks to his own success, but his work for others. This includes working with the likes of Beyoncé, Monica, and the late Aaliyah.
During his appearance on Elle‘s Song Association, he opened up about how he wished had the opportunity to collaborate with Aaliyah before she passed and how he was able to provide background vocals on her 2001 album cut ‘Come Over.’
His words below…
“The song you hear me on, ‘Come Over,’ I just happened to walk in the studio that day. We were going to check on baby girl, and she was working with Johnta Austin.”
“As soon as I walked in, she said, ‘Tank can do it,’ Johnta said, ‘Tank can do it,’ and I was like, ‘Tank can do what?'”
Tank continued by saying that both Austin and Aaliyah sent him into the recording booth. As they say, the rest is history.

Girl bye. It was a leftover track that Changing Faces ended up cutting so don’t play these games chile 👋🏽
Cassandra spoke about it in 2011 and said Aaliyah recorded it first as a demo, and then Changing Faces decided to buy the song after Aaliyah opted not to. Interview is at youknowigotsoul.com
I got that too definitely wasn’t an album cut! 😂 But I definitely will say I never knew Changing Faces did it. Just listened and not a fan. Aaliyah’s demo is the only true version. Might as well had been here own hit never knew it was a demo all these years!!! Just thought it was a leftover song she recorded.
Love ‘Come Over’ by Aaliyah.
She is the standard. Period!
Yo – Tank can get it
