Bree Runway is strutting her way to the top and her latest stop is the cover of Paper Magazine.
The electrifying star stuns in a number of striking shots, which she paired with an equally compelling interview.
Within the feature, the ‘Hot Hot’ performer spilled on her forthcoming album debut, being inspired by Michael Jackson, infusing Ghanaian influences into her material, and more.
Peep pics and quotes below…
On Jetting To The US In June To Record Her LP:
“The aim is to work with the best-of-the-best whilst out there.”
On How Her Album Will Compare To Her EPs:
“This project is going to be a lot more honest, I feel like I’m catching up on years that I slept on by myself. I wanna scream and shout about it.”
On Her Ghanaian Heritage Influencing Her Material:
“Sometimes you can strip a Bree Runway song back and realize, ‘Wow that’s mad [African]. Even some of the melodies I create are very influenced by highlife artists I love. For someone who lives on highlife, like before this call I was doing my hair to that, it’s something that needs to be introduced on the debut album.”
On Being Inspired By Michael Jackson:
“Michael Jackson is just too cool in a way that I’m just blown away by the beat that he does his head bop back to. I love performances like that, where the cool factor oozes.”
On Her Approach To Her Career:
“I don’t do things for instant gratification. When I look back at my own work and listen to my own songs, I’m so happy with what I’m doing. I’m my own competition.”
She is doing everything f******* cant do but the black community keeps paying her dust, which makes me sad.
She just needs to do more features like Dua did before she finally popped off
