My take on it that hes not innovative yet talented. He relies heavily on sampling past 90s, 80s, and 70s R&B. Should definitely be careful because Uptown Funk proved this and where was a lawsuit of sampling to mimicking past greats. Simply although he can be entertaining he brings absolutely nothing to the table that we haven’t already seen or heard before or better than.
