Hulu is inviting viewers to step into the ring for a look into the life of one of sports entertainment’s most celebrated and controversial figures: boxing legend Mike Tyson.
The heavily-teased limited series, which casts ‘Moonlight’ star Trevante Rhodes as the titular character, is set to land on the streamer August 25 and includes a cast of familiar faces that includes Russell Hornsby, Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Li Eubanks, Olunike Adeliyi, and B.J. Minor.

The subject of the series has made clear that he is not involved in any way with the Hulu production, calling it “unauthorized” and “unfortunate.”
Ahead of his forthcoming big screen biopic starring Jamie Foxx, Tyson took to press last February to slam the streamer for attempting to make a profit off his life story.
“[The announcement of this series] on the heels of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu’s corporate greed led to this tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of my life story. To make this announcement during Black History Month only confirms Hulu’s concern for dollars over respect for Black story rights,” his statement read. “Hollywood needs to be more sensitive to Black experiences especially after all that has transpired in 2020. My authorized story is in development…”
