Just listened to the album once… not sure what to think of it now.
It’s not a dance album and there’s no country music (thankfully), so first reports were BS. There’s a few dance inspired cuts (the last song on the album being the closest to that genre) but don’t expect a deep house album. Nor big vocals (which is quite disappointing because since 4 she never let it go in the studio).
Bey’s voice changed significantly after giving birth. It’s much deeper now. I wouldn’t expect anymore big vocals ever……

Well I can tell you that it’s not the deep house dance record that earliest reports described. And there’s no country there.
Some are dance influenced, the last song on the album is the closest sonically speaking to Break My Soul. Some are more Urban ish. Some are experimental.
The last third of the album, don’t remember the name of the tracks, it’s very flat vocally speaking. The talking singing mess. I haven’t heard with headphones yet, I’m sure there will be nice harmonies.
At first listen, this is the album that hasn’t hit me like that in her whole discography.
I’m sure some people will love it, but we certainly aren’t paying attention to the same details.
Regarding the vocals, she’s had moments live after her pregnancies. I just don’t get why she doesn’t go there anymore in the studio.
One thing I’ll say tho, she does show different tones and plays around with her range, breathy/chest/head voice but there’s no Belt-yoncé or full chest high notes, long notes, key changes….

The album is trash. She’s trying to be avante garde and that’s NOT her! But I guess kudos for trying something different I guess….
It may grow on me, it’s not a bad album – it’s just different for Beyoncé and might take some getting used to. Not a single slow jam on it and I think her slower songs are some of her best work. The only song that really grabs me at the moment is “America Has A Problem”.
Plastic on the sofa is so grown and s***. I can listen to a whole album of joints like this. Heated should be her next single. It is a bop and so radio friendly. Love Church Girl and also recommend this track as a single choice. Cuff It is a nice track.

I was clearly not expected these kind of sounds on the album. I don’t see any hit but some vibes, Cozy and Alien Superstar are ok. All Up In Your Mind is the only song I really appreciate thanks to the instrumental. I will pass on the rest of the album, very forgettable, that’s a weak project.

I can understand his statement here, when it comes to deeper meaning in songs I listen to Solange and when I want to listen to some fierce hip-hop/rnb I prefer listening to Beyoncé but she’s doing less of it lately. We will be more pleased with the act 3.
