As prayers were going up in response to reports Cissy Houston, legendary singer and mother of late Pop icon Whitney Houston, had died Wednesday (August 31) at 88-years-old, her niece – ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ singer Dionne Warwick – took to Twitter to set the record straight.
Details inside.
My Aunt Cissy is very much alive. This Earnest Pugh needs to get a life and stay out of other peoples lives!

Gospel sensation Earnest Pugh sent social media into a frenzy Wednesday with news that Cissy had passed away.
As fans took to Twitter in droves to offer the Houston and Drinkard families condolences (which includes Dionne), she confirmed their worry was unfounded.
“My Aunt Cissy is very much alive,” the 81-year-old music legend posted on Twitter Wednesday night. “This Earnest Pugh needs to get a life and stay out of other people’s lives.”
Gospel icon Kim Burrell, a friend of the Houston family and former spiritual advisor to Whitney, doubled down on Dionne’s denial.
Once Pugh got word of Warwick’s comments he removed the original post that incorrectly announced Cissy’s death.
