October 9 brought with it ‘Creole Culture‘ – the first solo studio effort from multidisciplinary music star Dawn Richard since 2021’s critically acclaimed ‘Second Line.’
Billed as a conceptual continuation of its precedessor, ‘Culture’ is home to the previously released cuts ‘Enough,‘ ‘Baby, Can We?‘ featuring Durand Bernarr, and the warmly received ‘chuuuuuurch.’
“‘Creole Culture’ is my way of saying that New Orleans culture doesn’t have to live in the past to be authentic. It can be progressive. It can be global. It can be pop culture. It can look like me,” she said in an official statement about the LP.
An 11-track affair, the ‘Creole’ tracklist also includes guests appearances from the likes of Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, and GRAMMY-winning Queen of Bounce Big Freedia.
