Be it for the good, bad, ugly, or downright shocking, 2022 was full of memorable moments!
Now, as the year draws to a close, That Grape Juice is reflecting on the occasions that rocked – and to some degree maybe even reshaped – the Urban and Pop cultural landscape as we know it.
Next, we’ll revisit Taylor Swift’s record breaking year.
What a year 2022 was for Taylor Swift, the acclaimed singer-songwriter broke nearly every record there was in the music industry.
It all began at the 2022 MTV VMAs when she won Video of the Year for a third time to become the act with the most wins in the category.

However, her year did not end there as she announced her 'Midnights' album at the ceremony after her win. The project debuted with over 1.5 million in sales in its first week and as a result, she became the first artist to have five albums sell over 1 million copies in a single week.
She also broke the record for the biggest vinyl week sales, highest streams for an album in 2022, became the first female artist to have 11 albums debut at #1, and scored multiple new Guinness World Records, among other achievements.

There's more. Ten of her songs from 'Midnights' debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first artist to do so and surpassed Madonna's record for the female artist with the most top 10s in the chart's history.
As if that wasn't enough, Swift also tied the record for most nominations in the Song of the Year category at the GRAMMYs when her song 'All Too Well' was nominated. She tied with Lionel Richie and Paul McCartney for six nominations each.
