To say 2023 is Miley Cyrus‘ year would be a serious understatement.
As if kicking the year off by breaking streaming records and nabbing her longest-running #1 hit to date, ‘Flowers,’ wasn’t enough, its parent album – ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ – is cruising toward delivering her best first-week commercial performance in years.
On top of that the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently took to press to announce several updates to the Pop diva’s already top-selling catalog.
Details inside.
Friday (March 10), the same day Cyrus dropped her latest studio album, she received news her 2009 hit, ‘Party in the USA,’ had partied its way to 12x Platinum status. The measure denotes sales equivalence of 12 million units in the United States.
In doing so, the Dr. Luke-produced bop not only becomes her highest-certified hit to date but it also enters a three-way tie for overall highest-certified female-led song of all time – a historic accomplished shared with Mariah Carey‘s ‘All I Want for Christmas’ and Katy Perry‘s ‘Firework.’
Among all artists, only Lil Nas X‘s ‘Old Town Road’ and Post Malone & Swae Lee‘s ‘Sunflower’ (17x Platinum each), Drake‘s ‘God’s Plan’ and The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ (15x Platinum each), Florida Georgia Line‘s ‘Cruise,’ Gotye‘s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know,’ Imagine Dragons’ ‘Radioactive,’ John Legend‘s ‘All of Me,’ and Post’s ‘Congratulations’ (14x Platinum each), Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are,’ Chris Stapleton‘s ‘Tennessee Whiskey,’ Eminem‘s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ and ‘Lose Yourself,’ and Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee‘s ‘Despacito‘ (13x Platinum each) are certified higher than Miley, Katy, and Mimi’s respective hits.
The ‘Party’ certification wasn’t the only thing Cyrus celebrated last week.
In addition to a slew of Hannah Montana updates at the RIAA, Miley also saw some of her biggest hits move up the organization’s certification ladder. See the latest below.
