The GRAMMY winner graces the publication as promotion for ‘The Color Purple’ amplifies ahead of the musical’s US theatrical debut on December 25.
In tandem with a Victoria Stevens lensed shoot, the American Idol winner opened up about the process of transforming into the lead character Celie again after initially playing the role on Broadway in 2008.
Beyond the film, the 39-year-old waxed candid about her traumas and how she’s managed to overcome them.
