In news that definitely left Hip-Hop lovers stunned, Andre 3000 – who has not been attached to a new LP since Outkast‘s 2006 ‘Idlewild‘ – unexpectedly announced his debut solo album would drop on Friday (November 17).
Even more surprising is the fact the 87-minute project – titled ‘New Blue Sun’ – sees the legendary rapper (born Andre Benjamin) putting down the mic in place of flutes and digital wind instruments.
Showcasing his skills as a flautist, the 48-year-old’s mostly instrumental effort is supported by prized instrumentalists Deantoni Parks, Jesse Peterson, Diego Gaeta, Matthewdavid, V.C.R, Diego Gaeta, Mia Doi Todd, Carlos Niño, Surya Botofasina, Nate Mercereau, and others.
