Brandy and Monica may be celebrated by music lovers as two of modern R&B’s most revered female vocalists, but that reverence hasn’t always been extended from the industry itself: namely the awards show circuit.
To date, the divas have only won one GRAMMY – a shared victory at the 1999 ceremony for 1998’s ‘Boy is Mine.’
Unexpectedly reuniting in 2024 to tackle the remix of Ariana Grande‘s tune of the same name, B-Rocka and Mo garnered critical acclaim for their contributions to the revamp of the ‘Eternal Sunshine’ hit – an appreciation that’s apparently been recognized by the Recording Academy.
Taking to press on Friday (November 8), the Recording Academy announced the trio’s ‘Boy is Mine (Remix)’ is listed in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
While for Brandy the recognition comes as her first nod since 2020, it’s been even longer for Monica as she’s not been printed in a GRAMMY nominations’ tally since 2011.
The mention comes as three for Grande this year alone as her name is listed in Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Dance Pop Recording categories.
Tune in to the GRAMMYs when they air live on CBS on February 2, 2025 to see if the trio take home the coveted award.
Flop like Kamala Harris 💅🏽
The song was trash and sounds like it was mixed on an iPhone 6. Bruno & Gaga will sweep.
