Leona Lewis Pushes ‘Glassheart’ Release Date To 2012

Published: Monday 26th Sep 2011 by David

In what will sure to serve as a shocking blow to many of Leona Lewis‘ loyal fans, the release date of her greatly anticipated ‘Glassheart‘ album has been pushed back to 2012.

The news comes not long after the release of the project’s first single ‘Collide‘ ,which charted  at #18 on this week’s Official UK Top 40.

Find out what the hold up is below…

Taking to her Facebook page, the X Factor winner explained:

Just wanted to update everyone on the album! I’m feeling so inspired right now and have decided to continue recording! I have a collection of songs that I’m so in love with and I no there’s more to be born so it means the album will come early next year.

Whilst this will disappoint many of her supporters, here’s to hoping the extra time in the studio will give Team Leona a clearer idea on how to turn this project into the success she desperately needs it to be.

For putting aside her immense and oft celebrated talent, it is difficult to see how Ms. Lewis will be able to regenerate the hype she enjoyed during the lead up to her first album.

Especially  now that Adele Adkins is the only Brit export the rest of the world seems to be interested in.

Just wanted to distract you all while the single is sliding down the charts. My label is feeling so underwhelmed right now and they have made me continue recording.I have a collection of songs that the label has rejected and thrown away and I know the budget is running out, but if I stop drinking coffee to save some money, that means that the album will come early next year

    😛 Just kidding.I wish her luck…

I think her single will do well if she promotes it wisely and her fans request it on the radio.

She is amazing and I love Leona, this is a very good move for her, she can perform on the X Factor late, and then she will get a great charting position and then another single and album on the same week!

  8. NATALIE THE NAVY GIRL September 26, 2011

Aw 🙁 I love Leona but I am glad she’s really taking time on this year. Hmm she seems to copying Adele’s album strategy (Release an album in January and make it big that year.

It was obvious from the second single of her first album that this girl was not going to make it. I´m still in shock from when many people jumped on her bandwagon trying to shade “old glories” like Mariah. Time to see she was not going to make it came faster than expected though 🙂 Still she has a great voice, but a boring one, not versatile

I love Leona but her management is doing a horrible job… Her voice is nor r&b/pop Can’t Breathe should have been her lead single for echo it would have done amazing in the states. I can go on and about this but I support her no matter what.

This is going to make even more people forget about her. To be honest, I don’t really see her as becoming very successful. I wish her the best though.

“I’m feeling so inspired right now and have decided to continue recording” Oh please…anyone with a brain knows that this is hogwash. Whatever the case here’s hoping that she dicthes that dance nonsense that she was trying to do…she just doesn’t have what it takes to pull it off.

S/N: I do not think that Leona has a snowballs chance of re-living the success that she had in the US with Bleeding Love. She is awfully mundane and her songs lack any real depth. Adele on the other (as over-rated as I think she is) is very down to eath and extremely funny (in the interviews I have seen of her), and she is able to connect with her songs, thus Leona will not reach Adele’s success at all.

  20. THEMAN September 27, 2011

Leona is very talented. She’s one of the better singers out now. However, she is kinda dull as far as her personality is concerned. I mean sure she can sing, but what else does she have to offer that would allow her to stand out.

  21. bey’knight September 27, 2011

    @KD

lol of course Adele connects with her songs, that goes without saying, do u not know the prelude to 21?

  22. bey’knight September 27, 2011

oh since she’s feeling inspired now.i hope she gets inspiration to change this horrendous cover

Let the church say AMEN. I am not a fan of the colours used or the clown-inspired make-up either.

While on the whole “inspiration” thing, I sincerely hope that she manages to connect with her music this time around. She has a fantastic voice, but most of her songs fall flat because of the lack of any discernible feeling from her part.

  24. Scott September 27, 2011

Leona is finished Cowell has moved on to his other puppets and her career has lost steam. Collide was a terrible songs and scraped 50k its first week of release to go to 4 now it is down to 18 after 3 wks she should just retire like Shayne
