NFL star-turned-media personality Shannon Sharpe is undoubtedly crying “foul” after learning he is in the center of yet another legal drama just days after settling a sexual assault lawsuit.
As reported here, Sharpe was fired from ESPN after the network learned he settled a $50 million sexual assault lawsuit filed against him earlier this year.
And while the drama finally seemed poised to be behind him, the 57-year-old has been informed of another legal filing against him – this time to the tune of $20 million for defamation.
In court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun, a woman named Jimalita Tillman (seen above) is suing Shannon and his ‘Nightcap‘ podcast co-host / fellow former NFL star Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson for allegedly spreading a false narrative about her marital status.
“On April 2, 2025, I participated in a fan engagement moment at a Usher Raymond concert where I interacted with the artist as a selected audience member. Following this event, the defendants made and disseminated false and defamatory statements suggesting that I was married and that my husband was filing for divorce due to my participation in this audience experience, I am not married, nor am I currently going through a divorce,” Tillman’s statement on the official court docs read. “The defendants’ false narratives were shared widely across their platforms, reaching millions of followers, viral spread and refutation efforts, despite my clear and public reputation of the false narrative.”
Claiming their statements were a “reckless disregard for the truth,” Jimalita says her refutation attempts even saw her go on national TV to try to defend her name – all to no avail.
Taking to the courts for restitution over the “significant harm to her character and reputation,” the woman is seeking $20 million for emotional distress and defamation.
At writing, Sharpe has not responded to the allegations and filed suit.
