The fourth live show of  X Factor 2011 aired tonight.

{For those unfamiliar with The X Factor, the show is the UK’s version of American Idol – with a twist in that groups and over 28’s are eligible to enter. Now in it’s seventh season, the show is responsible for birthing the careers of Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, and JLS. Its US incarnation launched last month on FOX}.

Given Kelly Rowland’s previously announced absence, tonight was always going to be one to watch. And with her stand-in Alexandra Burke watching, judging, and perhaps giving the most constructive feedback on the panel (we’re looking at you, Tulisa), the contestants by-and-large delivered.

Indeed, the likes of Misha B, Sophie, and Kitty really nailed their showings. All reaffirming why they deserve to go far in the competition (and in B and Sophie’s case, hopefully winning it too). The ladies of Little Mix also held their own. Clearly Girl Power ruled the roost.

Typically Frankie was garbage, while The Risk struggled in their first showing with new member Ashford.

With the live shows heading towards the mid-way point, tomorrow’s next contestant ousting should be interesting!

The X Factor continues on ITV1 tomorrow night at 8pm.
