Without a doubt, Darkchild is one of Pop music’s more groundbreaking producers.
Responsible for a number of chart dominating hits, Beyonce‘s ‘Deja Vu‘ and Brandy x Monica‘s ‘The Boy Is Mine‘, the maestro is now expanding his empire beyond making music for the stars of today and has turned his attention to developing the acts of tomorrow.
Details below…
Signing on to star in ‘Take The Stage’, the producer (born Rodney Jerkins) joins Ciara manager Johnny Wright in partnership with online talent network Yobi.TV.
On the project, Rodney explained:
Back in the day you would have to go to different showcases which, you know, with flights and travel and all those things it can be too much to track down different talent. With all this new talent being birthed online, the internet has created this new strategic platform for talent to be discovered and allows the people to tell us what they want to hear.
Over a period of 18 weeks, Pop hopefuls will compete for the chance to be managed by Wright, who also managed/manages Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and will see them create original material with Jerkin’s aid.
Wright added:
Singing other people’s songs can really be a disadvantage to the singer.
It doesn’t matter how you sing it. The audience already has the image of the original singer in their head, so you’re competing against the original performer of that song.
In this particular case you get to really see them as performers and understand what their music’s all about. I wanted to get involved with a web series that encourages the user to discover — that’s what MySpace is all about, is discovering.
This is extremely exciting! I love stuff like this and totally agree about new stars needing to partake in the songwriting process and convey a little bit more feeling into their music. It comes out more authentic. The perception of musicians needs to change in order for the industry to be revived.
Boy that is not no damn brandy producer
Yeah Rodney was BRANDY”S PRODUCER.
Check the credits fool.
i most def diggin that.
Tgj I want an article about Rihanna clocking her 22nd top 10 on the Hot 100 with Where Have You Been!!
Why did y’all title this article with Beyonce producer. Hes only done a few songs with her. Anything to name drop I guess.
well ‘Ciara manager’ needs to step his s*** up cos he is doing a rubbish job!!!
Darkchild has been trying to “develop the acts of tomorrow” but all of his artists have gone no where, even though some of them were great behind the scenes. But as a producer, darkchild is phenomenal!!!
Nice
I love that woman.
This tittle sounds tacky and inappropriate. It would fit better if you said Brandy Producer. # not to shade no Bey but they have done less than a quarter of what he and Brandy done together. *ShRUGS*
you have a fantastic weblog right here! would you for example to
make some invite posts on my blog?
