Forced to watch Adele‘s ’21‘ return to #1 after hitting the 22 million units sold worldwide mark last week, the Caribbean Queens have both suffered a decline in sales this week, pulling in an unfortunate 22,966 copies between them.

In at #22 is Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday:Roman Reloaded’ with 13,458 units sold in the last week, possibly brought on by her absence from the country on the grounds of her ‘Pink Friday‘ World Tour.
This, placing her 1 spot beneath Adele’s ’19’ with 14,627 copies and 12 places beneath Carrie Underwood’s ‘Blown Away‘ with a cool 27,397 after spending last week at #5.
Reaching #1 in the first week of release, ‘Roman Reloaded‘s sales this week- though disappointing- have followed a US sales trend with the Rapper who has enjoyed more success with album worldwide than she has domestically.
A feat, unmatched by her debut effort ‘Pink Friday’ which despite debuting with a bigger number (375,000 units to be exact) is yet to enjoy the global acclaim enjoyed by its foul mouthed follow up.
Drake‘s ‘Take Care‘ comes in at #41 suffering a sales decrease of 5% since last week, moving 8,323 units this week while Katy Perry‘s ‘Teenage Dream‘ sits one spot above with 8,793.
However, it is Rihanna who has the least to smile about this week perched at #33. For, in typical form, while her singles choke hold the competition on the Billboard Hot 100, her albums fail to follow suit.
This week saw her 2011 effort ‘Talk That Talk’ pull in a measly 9,508 units with a 10% sales slump, even though its latest single ‘Where Have You Been’ continues to dominate radio and her ‘tabloid stock’ reaching all new heights.
Heights, which saw reports of a reunion with ex boyfriend Chris Brown, alleged calls from her friends for her to seek rehabilitation, and a ‘body double’ scandal unearthed by a number of British publications, including tabloid Queen ‘The Sun’ and ‘The Daily Mail‘.

Madonna didn’t bother to promote her album, you dunce. She released it with virtually no TV promo, no televised performances, no magazine interviews, etc., etc. Hit albums don’t make themselves. When artists and labels choose to not promote their album in the media, sales tend to be poor, as many in the public don’t even know the album is out. On the contrary, Rihanna and Nicki’s albums are/were HEAVILY promoted and still did not see any impressive numbers.
Rihanna’s flop album is a bigger loss for everyone involved than Madonna’s flop, since IDJ sunk more money into it expecting it to be a blockbuster. Everyone at Interscope and Live Nation knew Madonna was only releasing an album for an excuse to tour, and wasn’t planning to heavily promote it. Plus Madonna is 53.
