With a promise to unwrap new material this Summer, Mariah Carey has been hitting the studio to ensure her word stays firm.
After notching up time with the likes of Jermaine Durpi and DJ Premier, the songbird teamed up with hitmaker Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins for her latest sessions.
Taking to Twitter, the 42 year old wrote of collaboration with Jerkins (who she last worked with on 2005’s Twista assisted ‘So Lonely’):
“In the studio with RJ- yeaah, having a nice time!” she wrote on her Twitter profile.
“Tonight was a stone winner with the massively talented @RodneyJerkins (sic).”

We’ve said a million times over, but it doesn’t get better than Darkchild on the production tip. Indeed, almost every song is “stone winner” when it comes to the ever-versatile Mr Jerkins. With ol’ Mimi needing to do away with some of the fluffy fluff she’s been releasing in recent years, a Darkchild hit could be exactly what the Career Dr ordered.

Darkchild’s golden years are far over … & even then, his material wasn’t so great. Remember the If I Told U That/If U Had My Love/If I Gave U Love drama where his songs were basically the same?
Anyhow, he may still deliver a hit but MC sounds like she is still playing in the same circles & she needs to make something fresh.

I disagree, Dark child’s best moments are over. After he laced Toni Braxton, Brandy, Whitney and even the Spice Girls with hits it went dry. I havent heard a Rodney song I’ve liked in years.

It´s funny how TGJStuff writes almost all the post on the site but Sam is teh one to always write the Mariah ones (apart from the Kelly and Beyonce ones, his favorites). That speaks volumes of how pressed he is and how he really likes her and knows she is the only one among the veterans who still can have a huge hit in the USA.
