He may have won its second season, but Shayne Ward‘s career since the X Factor has been anything but a walk in the park.
Indeed, after exhausting its machine to spawn one #1 single and an LP to just chart just as high, recent years have seen the ‘Breathless’ singer’s career take a rude turn for the worst- with his 2011 single ‘Obsession‘ peaking at #97 on the UK Singles Chart.
Now, in response to a new commercial advertising ‘Factor’s ninth season, he has hit out creator Simon Cowell for ‘erasing’ what he calls its ‘history’.

In the above ad, a number of the series’ brightest alumni, Alexandra Burke, One Direction and Little Mix and JLS can be seen reminiscing on their experience on the show.
However, despite winning his season, Ward was not asked to shoot for the campaign while non-winners Olly Murs and One Direction and JLS were.
On the matter, Ward claimed:

Simon is known for putting the dollar first, but look at what’s he’s got to show for it. X-Factor. Ahaha. Leona Lewis is the only actual ‘star’ to come off the show … and yet, she’s Leona Lewis (beautiful voice, but not star presence). Simon’s starting to make a career on burning bridges (beep beep Justin Timberlake & Madonna). Why wouldn’t he stand proud behind his acts, and proud behind his show.
