With the debut of The Saturdays’ new E! reality show ‘Chasing The Saturdays’ drawing nearer, no time seems better than the present to unwrap the video for ‘What About Us’ – the group’s first US single.
Shot in Downtown Los Angeles, the visual introduces the Brit-Pop belle’s Rochelle, Vanessa, Una, Frankie, and Mollie to the American audience ahead of next week’s two-night premiere of their series (starting January 20th).
Having notched up an impressive eleven top 10 singles on home soil, can the ladies enjoy similar success Stateside? The first trace of an answer awaits below…
While we were hoping for a highly stylized / choreographed clip (especially given that the ladies are now working with all-American everything), the end product has reinforced the importance of “managing expectations”. For, despite the gloss of the US camera lens, the group still offered up performances (or lack-there of) that are trademark Saturdays. Take that as you will.
Still, the song – as groundbreaking as it isn’t – remains highly infectious and positions the ladies right in the thick of what’s “hot” on radio at present. A fact which, given the ample backing they’re getting (from US label and E! network, must count for something…hopefully.
Look out for The Sats’ American album debut, which features production from Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, later this year.

Tidbit: If you are wondering where previously confirmed feature Sean Paul is, verse will only appear on the UK version of the song. Shade, perhaps, but we’d be more inclined to say “strategic”. After all, he is most relevant these days in Europe.
Girls Aloud >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Who cares? They’re irrelevant in the uk and they will be in the us.
i like their accents… that is all
GIRLS ALOUD ARE BETTER!!!!!!!
LOOVE THEM!
I love these girls a lot… but this vid is a big snoozefest.
This won’t help them in any way. it’s got to be their most boring vid till date.
Still I wish them all the luck in the world, for girlbands go, the sats are fun and make catchy music.
I think it’s a weak start for the US, but it’s a good start. I can only imagine how good the album after this one will be.
This song is dope!!!!!
what about you?
you cant sing, cant dance and have zero personality.
I like it, the chorus has “something”. Although its very similar to whats going on already, it’s a good track non the less. The clubs and kids will eat it up.
I love them and the song. I do not think this song is going on the actual album, just their American ep with their hits from the UK. That had recorded this song before the started working with producers in America.
