‘Surviving R.Kelly: Part II’: Thousands Contact Sexual Abuse Hotline After Show Airs

Published: Tuesday 7th Jan 2020 by David

The ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ series is inspiring sexual abuse survivors to stand up to their abusers.

Full story below…

‘Surviving R. Kelly: The Reckoning’ was created to give the world fresh insight into the fallen star’s abuse of young women and girls following his imprisonment last year.

Today, RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline reported that it received a 40% increase in calls in the hours following its airing on Lifetime thanks to brave survivors who were inspired to tell their stories after watching the show.

We are proud to have partnered with Lifetime on this project and are encouraged that our work with the media continues to empower survivors of sexual violence to seek the help that they need to heal.

A number of the singer’s associates are facing smouldering legal heat for facilitating/turning a blind-eye to the abuse (some of which was carried out on children as young as 11).

Lifetime had this to say about the show’s impact….

We are so thankful for our partnership with RAINN as part of our Stop Violence Against Women Initiative and to see the jump in calls during the airings of Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning. It’s amazing to know the documentary has encouraged important and necessary conversations to happen and we are extremely proud of our survivors for their courage, who by standing up for themselves, stand for so much more.

Pfft, where was all this fake outrage & energy for the last 25 years while folks were buying his records and allowing him to build a career while doing all of this? Why yall getting mad now? FOH.

The energy is here today boo boo. A new day has come and People like YOU hate it. Just so you know, the laws are changing to make sure people who committed crimes years ago can be prosecuted even if the accuser comes forwards decades later.

      • Gworl Bye January 8, 2020

Tell that to Trump’s accusers boo boo, yeah the ones that are still waiting for justice decades later. Now sit.

    • Haterz Gon‘ Hate January 7, 2020

Isn’t it more important that justice comes at all rather than NEVER? I can’t believe you have such an immature utopian view of life that Justice always happens “on time”. The current climate makes it easier for some people to feel they can speak up – how can you criticise that when it’s clearly doing good?

Both of you clowns can have several seats. The fact that ALL OF YOU allowed him to continue his career after he married that 15 year old girl in 1994 makes you ALL complicit. So save you fake & dated outrage for your mommas.

I agree 100%…Ive been saying this for a minute now. So many people acting shocked when we knew all along. He married Aaliyah, and the “pee” tape circulated on the internet where millions saw it, yet we all still were stepping in the name of love.

Yes it is R Kelly’s fault but I also think that it is the parents fault as well, selling their children’s to a man they know was a p********, because if the parent didn’t give their consent I don’t believe R Kelly will be able to have their daughters, now this is for the parents that helped R.Kelly and doing wrong, once the money ran out and they were living their best life they saw they were getting broke so they went back to R Kelly, to receive more funds, and I believe R Kelly said no more money because their children were grown then, now since they know they can’t get any more money from R Kelly in renting out their children’s they want to come forward and say he r**** their daughters, so I believe the parents should get some time to for selling their daughters trying to live there best Life, they all was stepping in the Name of Love, in other words for the Love of Money, and when the children’s got grown he put the song out called there ready, that’s because they’re grown now,
