Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sent shockwaves through the royal establishment and the world at large, after announcing that they are jointly stepping back from their position as senior members of the Royal Family.

Coming after a lengthy spell of media scrutiny, the couple – who married in 2018 and welcomed son Archie last year – revealed that they will divide their time between North America and the UK.
Their full statement:
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.
It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.
This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity. We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. The news arrives in the wake of a documentary feature, which saw Markle admit to battling depression due to intense media scrutiny and intrusion. A reality Harry has spoken up about too.
I don’t know if it’s Meghan herself or if it’s the Royals not accepting Meghan, but there is too much smoke here. Something is going on that we do not know about and I want to know. WE the public deserve to know if there is a rift in the Royal family.

I smell a Netflix docu and/or reality show pilot in the works, the failure of which will force these two back crawling to Bucky P., with their tails between their legs.

This is not Clinton or Obama, that Royal money stretches back generations, making it easy for Harry to “step back”. Megans’ money isnt even an issue. This is honestly a great choice for them. Im sure that it had not been easy for megan and im glad they are doing this and harry is sticking by her. Britain had treated her awful all because she is black. Hopefully now she can regain some independence and get back to acting.
