After weeks of speculation, it has today been confirmed: Columbus Short will not be returning to ‘Scandal’.
The talented actor, who has been with the show since its debut in 2012, has been the subject of intense media scrutiny following allegations surrounding his private life. And, unfortunately, it appears this brand of drama isn’t the sort the show wants to be associated with.
Following a climatic cliff-hanger on the season 3 finale, fans had been left wondering what the fate of Short’s character Harrison would be. Now, the question has been answered courtesy of his publicist.

Issued to The Hollywood Reporter, the statement read:
“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for three years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast.
Thank you Gladiators, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry [Washington] and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”
How unfortunate. A main cast role on a major show…squandered. Perhaps it’ll serve as a warning of sorts for others.
In any case, here’s hoping Columbus and his family find the peace so clearly needed.

Columbus’ personal life was not a reason or justification to fire him from the show. His personal life did not have any negative effect on the show or it’s ratings. Shonda has a serious problem with Black men. That’s evident not only on Scandal but on Greys anatomy as well.
If you’ve watched Scandal since day one like I have, Shonda has slowly but surely removed all prominent Black men from the show. First it was Senator Davis, then Eli Pope (who will soon exit) and now Harrison! Where have all the Strong the Black men gone? Olivia is looking more pitiful and slutty everyday being used by powerful white men despite what they did to her father.
I could go on but Shonda continues to be a huge disappointed.
Lessons learned the hard way, he should have given up that foolishness and acted like he cared about his reputation and career. Shonda has never been one to play games, act a fool and she’ll kick you off her show quick – white or black.
I wish more people in Hollywood had morality and backbone like her.
