‘Scandal’ never looked so good. Hence, it’s little surprise that ABC have ordered their fourth helping of the political drama.
Details after the jump…
Despite the Shonda Rhimes hit commanding series high ratings with its third season, the network had been radio silent about its pick-up status (as well as that of their other dramas).
However, today saw the inevitable confirmed – ‘Scandal’ will indeed return for another run.
Set to air during the 2014-2015 TV season, the show’s renewal comes as quite the coup for creator Rhimes – who brings her total number of shows on-air/on-ABC to three (‘Scandal’, ‘Greys Anatomy’, and a new title we’ll be telling you more about shortly).
Scandal’s third outing cemented the series a commercial smash. Indeed, it’s 9 million weekly viewing average grew to nearly 13 million when adding seven days of DVR. Also contributing to the show’s ratings succeed and undeniable fan-following was the show’s early syndication deal with BET, which sees episodes air shortly after they screen on ABC.
Put simply, the show is “winning”, a trajectory we see continuing with its upcoming run.
Congrats Gladiators!
