As viewers of TV One’s ‘Hollywood Divas’ will already know, the show’s first season has followed five African-American actresses as they join forces to create a movie they hope will restore (or hand them) the notoriety their talent makes them deserving of.
These actresses being Golden Brooks of ‘Girlfriends‘, Countess Vaughn of ‘Moesha‘ and ‘The Parkers’, ‘The Proud Family’s Paula Jai Parker and ex- ‘Real Housewife of Atlanta’ Lisa Wu.
Alas, we doubt the sweet smell of success they enjoyed many moons ago can mask the stench that rises from their movie ‘The White Sistas‘, seeking to tell a story of revenge, betrayal and murder…but now appears to have turned into a comedy.
Pills’n’Poor Actin’ below…
That was unfortunate.
Sure, though its budget may have prevented the ladies from making a flick as grand as they are, what’s to blame for its poor writing or the shameful performance the usually on-point Ms. Brooks is set to give when the movie drops in full?
If this is the best they could serve up, there’s no doubt they’ll soon be kicking themselves for deciding not to go with Countess‘ original idea, far more interesting and innovative than this could ever have been.
At least then, even if their target audience didn’t respond to a comedy about five African-American witches, the gifted ladies could have given themselves a pat on the back for bringing something new to the table.
Instead, they’re now tasked with promoting a ‘Nollywood’-esque movie set to make their chances of being embraced by Hollywood even slimmer than they already are.
