It’s another great week for Urban television.
FOX‘s freshman smash ‘Empire’ continues to grow exponentially, while BET are so pleased with the second season performance of ‘Being Mary Jane’ that they’ve renewed the drama for a third run.
Details below…
Entertainment Weekly confirms that last night’s episode of Lee Daniels‘ ‘Empire’ drew a whopping 11.5 million viewers – the highest of the season yet.
It’s imperative to point out that the Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson led music series has risen in ratings week on week since its January debut.
Meanwhile, Gabrielle Union‘s ‘Jane’ has earned another season after airing just one episode of its sophomore season.
It not surprising that the network have so much faith in the relationship drama; it’s Tuesday night premiere saw it become the most watched cable show that day after commanding an audience of 2.3 million.
Congrats to all involved with both programmes. They’re entirely deserving of the success.
Yay for Empire . BMJ is a great show but it’s raitings should be better . Perhaps if BET aired their shows earlier than 10pm it would help but nonetheless Congrats to both.
Empire is slaying all these networks! Yaaasss… honey!
Sam, don’t comment on TV ratings if you don’t know how the f*** to do it properly. Go educate yourself. TV ratings aren’t really based on viewers in millions. It’s mostly based on the 18-49 demo… and it had a share of 4.7 up from 4.3 it garnered last week. The show could have that 11M viewers and let’s say a 1.0 demo…it would be cancelled, no matter the large viewers. So when you report on TV series it’s important to add the key demo. Otherwise, it makes no sense.
Im slightly over this show… Maybe i need to cacth up, I stopped watching after episode 2 or 3.
Yeah I understand, just like everyone is over CiError..Makes sense sis!

Honestly, it’s a really good show. The latest episode was drama packed and I’m really starting to love the show. The last two episodes make me yearn for more!
after watching Anthony Hamilton sing on last nights episode, i thought it would be interesting if this show would feature more r&b artists to help put the genre back on the map.
