Six years separate the world from Beyonce’s last major movie role, and now- if Warner Bros get their way- the star will reclaim the role she’s said to have dropped in a rebooted version of ‘A Star is Born.’
Movie news below…
The ‘Second Nature’ singer was first approached to star in the movie while managed by her father Mathew Knowles, but is reported to have cut ties with the release after his departure from her management camp and after she learned she was pregnant with her daughter, Blue Ivy.
Now, Warner Bros is negotiating with ‘American Sniper‘ actor Bradley Cooper to make his directorial debut on ‘Born’ and are eager to lock him into a deal so they can approach Mrs. Carter, eager to see her follow in the footsteps of Barbra Streisand who starred in its second remake in 1976.
‘Born‘ tells the tale of a young woman eager to turn her Hollywood dreams into a reality with the help of a self-destructive musician whose career is beginning to decline.
It isn’t long before her rising star eclipses his own, lit up by Hollywood as his loses its shine before tragedy ensues.
Originally released in 1937, the original story saw Janet Gaynor play the role Beyonce had eyed when she is said to have asked Clint Eastwood to serve as her director before she learned she was pregnant in 2011.
Back then, Leonardo DiCaprio had been sought after to star in it alongside her, but may now see the opportunity given to Cooper who is currently working on its latest draft with the writer Will Fetters.
Deadline reports that Carter is yet to receive a formal invitation to join Cooper-led project but is aware that ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ actor Will Smith has also been linked to the motion picture.
Fans of the ‘The Cards Never Lie‘ singer will know that she has already followed in Streisand’s footsteps, winking at her reported ties to ‘Born’ when she performed ‘The Way We Were’ in honour of the singer/actress at the 2008 Kennedy Centre Honors.
