As fans of Marvin Gaye await his Jesse L. Martin-led biopic with bated breath, they were hit with news that his famous singing partner, Tammi Terrell, is set to get her own biopic.
The late starlet – whose claim to fame includes hits ‘Ain’t Nothin’ Like the Real Thing’ and ‘You’re All I Need (To Get By)’ – died in 1970 at the ripe age of 24 after complications from a brain tumor. As her legacy lives on, ‘Vampire Diaries’ star Kat Graham is set to take a bite out of bringing her life story to screens.
The news unearths just as the actress brought forth news that she’s teamed with R&B legend Babyface and is hard at work on her debut album!
‘Tammi Terrell will be played by The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, who also is working her debut album with producer Babyface. Maryam Myika Day wrote the untitled project, which marks Graham’s feature debut and is being produced by Robert Teitel, Rose Ganguzza and Hilary Shor.
Shooting is set for next year.’
The news comes after a multi-year campaign by fans of actress Taraji P. Henson for her to assume the role due to her likeness to the late Motown singer.
As of time reporting, no release date for the movie nor Graham’s debut album has been set.
