As the age old adage goes, “ride it ’til the wheels fall off.”
And while it’s arguable that ‘America’s Next Top Model’ has driven a long way past its glory days, today saw the keys officially removed from the ignition.
The CW have confirmed that the the Tyra Banks model-search will end after 22 seasons.

Currently in its 22nd “cycle,” the network announced that they have opted not to pick up the show for a 23rd. The series will air its final ever episode with this season’s finale on December 4th – bringing an end to a staggering 12-year run.
ANTM, as often referred to by fans, premiered on May 20th 2003 on UPN, and was the first series to debut when the network rebranded as The CW on September 20th 2006. The CW is in discussions about doing a retrospective special that will air sometime in late 2016.
Speaking on the show’s history, Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW said:
“America’s Next Top Model was a successful franchise for two networks, first at UPN and then The CW, and it became not just a ratings hit, but a global pop culture phenomenon.
I want to thank Tyra and [producer] Ken Mok for all their years of success in establishing a show that was not just popular in the U.S., but all across the world.”
Perhaps the PR angle to spin the story wasn’t unanimously decided upon, because Banks – who is currently fronting new daytime talker The Fab Life – took to Instagram to declare it her decision to end the show, citing it as “the right time”…
In all fairness, perhaps by the “right time” she means there’s no need pitch to another network as the show had reached its end.
And what a run it had! Though becoming a caricature of itself in recent years, ANTM boasted many a memorable moment and with its early to mid cycles introduced a multitude of still-visible names.
To its credit, it also fended off competition from similar shows, including Naomi Campbell‘s ‘The Face’ (which mysteriously disappeared last year). No small feat in the unforgiving world of TV.

I stopped watching at about season 7. But it’s crazy i was surfing youtube one day and i came across a few videos from season’s i hadn’t watched. It reignited my interest and I said i would start watching again next season and I would even try out if there was a season after that. I guess to little too late. But 22 cycles and 12 years is an accomplishment. Tyra should be proud.
The first season 2.0 was just okay for me. The second season however was really good… the best I’ve seen since cycle 9 a lot of cool cast members I like that keith won over the gay guy which brings me to my point. The 3 rd season was so bad I has to stop watching it cuz 2 of the ugliest queens ( gay guys) I’ve ever seen got casted. I thought models were supposed to her beuatiful and have bodies???
No!!!! I was just getting reacquainted with the show after payingnit dust for all those years. Plus, that’s not fair how the men didn’t get to last as long as the women did when they had all those seasons for themselves. Uhhhh!!! Please fix this now!! Keep the show!!!

First Empire now ANTM. I’m starting to think TGJ is casting a curse on these people. Just look at Rita Whora. They keep claiming she’s successful and she keeps flopping and delaying that album.
Oooooh I have so many memories stanning for the models from the early seasons (before stanning was a thing lol. I stopped watching after like the 9TH cycle but will always remember being obsessed with Naima and Yoanna and throwing a tantrum when Nicole beat Nik. Good times ANTM. It was a good run.
