ABC have been riding high in recent times with their primetime programming – thanks largely to ‘Scandal’ and, more recently, ‘How To Get Away With Murder.’
The Shondaland shows, alongside ‘Greys Anatomy,’ form the network’s popular ‘Thank God It’s Thursday’ block of TV.
And while ratings haven’t been as sky-high as prior times, all three titles have gripped audiences enough to earn all-new new seasons.

Just two weeks after his appointment, ABC’s new president Channing Dungey is making an unprecedented move. He’s mass announcing early renewals ahead of the traditional May window.
Beyond the commissioning of 6th and 3rd seasons for ‘Scandal’ and ‘Murder’ respectively, other pick-ups include:
America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Black-ish, Dancing With the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Shark Tank and Quantico.
We’re enjoying the current incarnations of both shows, as such we’re elated that they’ll be back.
‘Murder’ is still in its infancy, hence there’s undoubtedly much more ground to cover and story to tell.
One does have to wonder where ‘Scandal’ will head to next, though.
The current season is doing a decent job of righting some of the wrongs of past outings, but with the narrative being so advanced, Shonda and the writers have their work cut out for them balancing the dramatic with the realistic. Something the show, at its peak, did handsomely.
For now, though, congrats are definitely in order.
