Congratulations are in order for the cast and crew of ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut.’

The politically-charged movie generated over $20.2 million in its opening weekend, recouping its $20 million budget in less than 48 hours.
Barbershop: The Next Cut, which also has been well reviewed and garnered an A- CinemaScore, got Mowgli’d down. It got a nice bump on Saturday with an estimated $8.15M take, up 17% from its Friday night gross $7M. Its revised three-day cume is now $20M+ as it is likely to secure a nice hold today. Barbershopmovies have tended to make 98% of their total box office from North America.
The movie was outperformed by ‘Jungle Book’ which picked up $103.6 million in North America and $291 million with help from its stars Idris Elba and Lupita Nyong’O.

This movie was Surprisingly GOOD !! I get a little apprehensive when sequels come out 10 years after the prior. It definitely had that old Barbershop feel with a breath of fresh air. Didn’t feel like I was watching “Rappers trying to Act”, it was very organic. Just wish it had a bit more of a storyline.
I can’t stand Nicki’s annoying squeaky nasal voice, but I’m a fan of the franchise. Congrats.
